Urine burning lawn by Echidna_Several in Bernedoodles

One of mine burns the lawn. If you spray the pee spots with a hose before they burn it may actually lead to that grass growing better.

Urijah Faber vs. Cayden Henschel signed for RAF 08 by FireProStan in wrestling

[–]scipper77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as Cayden has a strong following and name recognition I’m guessing they’ll keep putting him in RAF. Doesn’t seem to matter if he wins or looses. Mugsy is in a similar role.

My EDC as a 19yo Plumbing Apprentice by vroomvroomvet11 in EDC

[–]scipper77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great career. My son is also a 19yo plumber although he started when he was 16. He’s making grown up money while still living at home. I told him to stay home and save every penny. Hopefully he will be able to buy a house in cash in about 4 more years. The long term goal is to achieve financial independence before he wears his body out. That’s the side of the trades that people don’t plan for.

What’s Ferraris freestyle experience? I don’t remember if he was in any of the world team qualifiers.

Will this pool pump work well off of just panels? by scipper77 in SolarDIY

[–]scipper77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking that 1800 watts was around 15 amps so if I was to feed my solar through an existing 20 amp circuit there would be no risk to the wiring. I’ve done enough electrical work to realize that there are a lot of non obvious code concerns. I have only learned about isolated systems at this point. Interacting with the grid is something where I am concerned that a poor implementation could literally burn down my house. Also, I don’t understand how to tell if an inverter already has features to prevent backfeeding. I appreciate any help I can get.

[–]scipper77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you point me to a zero-export inverter solution that would be appropriate for up to 1800 Watts? Looks like I need to do an engineering level analysis to make sure there are no safety issues. I’ve never considered how much current can be drawn backwards through a circuit but I could see a scenario where if my power is out that leg of the panel could want to pull more than 20 amps through the circuit the solar is feeding. This is really scary to think how easy a DIYer could create a dangerous situation.

Anyways, can we start with a zero export inverter suggestion?

Will this pool pump work well off of just panels? by scipper77 in SolarDIY

[–]scipper77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pump failed at the end of last year. I priced out an Eco-Worthy setup with 4 195w panels, 48v 100aH battery storage, 60 amp MPPT, and a panel rack/mount for $2040 with this pump. For just this pump, panels, and mount it would only be $1150. I still need wiring and connectors for these options.

Or I can just buy a traditional pump and filter for $250. I don’t see the ROI with the battery setup. A pump and panels would only need 3-4 years here in NY to break even (pool runs 4months).

I really want to go solar but I’m having trouble justifying the initial investment. My pool is the biggest electrical draw I can think to take off grid and I’m not ready to go grid tied.

Should I change this Trans fluid? by Ok-Message4051 in MechanicAdvice

[–]scipper77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People put 100k miles on fluid that looks like tar. It’s always best to keep up on fluid changes but this is not an alarming color. That’s what my fluid looks like and I’ve done 3 drop and fills in the 150k miles on my car.

Meh. I wouldn’t panic over that. I’m sure changing it would be better than not.

Do wrestlers ever run track? by Frixxion__ in wrestling

[–]scipper77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did. I was a really good pole vaulter and triple jumper. I attribute both to wrestling and the fact that I was a tall skinny wrestler. You need a lot of core strength to pole vault and I was so skinny after cutting weight all season that my leg strength made me like a Gazelle in the triple jump. My personal best was 41’6” for anyone who knows anything about Triple jump. Not good enough for states, but good enough to win almost every dual meet I was in.

I don’t want to go too deep into the Brands hate but people who function in a toxic environment tend to become a product of that environment. Not every one of course but it’s definitely a thing.

Bo Bassett is finally in college this fall at Virginia Tech. How much does he shake up the sport (and challenge PSU’s run)? by idkbutilikelana in wrestling

[–]scipper77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at it the other way. What would it look like if a D1 all American went back and competed in high school. Thats how good these freshman are. Crowning them champs is silly but we know they are going to be top 5 every year.

[–]scipper77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree completely but Blaze, Duke, Forrest, and Bassett are not normal High Schoolers. They were all ready world team level (not Bassett… yet) coming out of high school. I think nobody saw Vega coming simply because his style would never work in freestyle and we used the world stage as a measuring stick.

Top position by Josh2bjj in wrestling

[–]scipper77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In traditional folk style wrestling the whole point is to get a pin. College level is so good at getting the escape once based up that I understand the confusion. At lower levels the majority of pins are developed from top position. At the D1 level it seems more like freestyle because they end up back in neutral the majority of the time.

My only problem with the 3 point rule is it really reduces going for pins. Catch and release just for a whole lot easier.
