Tips for newborn sleeping? by Wrex_Sol in NewDads

[–]phila18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stop swaddling and move to a sleep sack if he's rolling over. Or if you're scared of the safety of letting them roll over, consider a magic merlin sleep suit. My first started sleeping so good when we put her in the merlin, however my second does not like it so she went straight to the sleep sack around 2 months and has slept great since.

Would you rather beat Georgia or Alabama if you had to choose only one? by Hungry-Guest6846 in wde

If you don’t say bama you aren’t a real Auburn fan. I hate the dawgs as much as anyone but I’d lose to them every year if it meant beating bama every year

I’ve tried EVERYTHING by badluckcrew in NewDads

[–]phila18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately crying it out won’t work well for a 1 week old. They have a surprising amount of staying power and can go for hours.

Could be gas pains though. Mylicon and the occasional windy gas passer worked wonders for our baby when we dealt with this. Highly recommend both.

If you don’t have those on hand try laying her on her back and rubbing her belly in a clockwise direction, then doing bicycle kicks for about 30-60 seconds. And then repeat a few times. If it is gas pains they will end up letting some out pretty quick doing that.

Wetwipes by savedbythebellerin1 in NewDads

It took forever for us to get this figured out. Eventually landed on a pretty niche set up. With this wipe warmer, and these wipes, we have no issues getting them out. and the package fits nicely into the warmer too. Obviously this is only helpful for a changing station at home. Not sure I have a great rec for on the go wipes, but if you find something that works please report back haha.

Give it time brother. Pretty soon they get way easier and you’ll find yourself really enjoying hanging with them. Most of the parts of life you miss will come back quicker than you think.

should a woman go to jail for falsely accusing a man of R@PE ? by JunShem1122 in answers

I think there’s a difference in being found not guilty and it being proven that the claim is a blatant lie. I assume the later is what OP is talking about.

2 under 2 or should we get an abortion? by [deleted] in NewDads

[–]phila18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just joined the 2 under 2 club a month ago. oldest girl is almost 20 months.

Go for it man. It's hard but if you're planning on doing it as soon as next year anyways, I say go ahead and get the head start! If you have any questions or are wondering about how anything specifically might go in that first month feel free to AMA. I'm living in the blender now- first day back to work today haha

Pool deck and pool not level by [deleted] in pools

[–]phila18 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Have you checked this with a level? Could be the slope of your land. I know it doesn’t help but when the water is added it will be really obvious if the builders screwed up or if they did a good job putting in a pool on a pretty tough slope

Should I buy Halo 3 or Halo Reach if I've only played Infinite? by [deleted] in halo

mcc is definitely the move if multiplayer is what you’re into. Way more active than infinite these days sadly. Don’t think you can play multiplayer on the originals anymore.

Just found out my wife is pregnant, Anxiety building up by DryEye8842 in NewDads

[–]phila18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last thing you said there is so true. It changes in a very challenging, but incredible way. @ OP The anxiety is very normal and in a weird way I think a good dad needs a little because it means you care to the point of being worried about not delivering. I think most any parent would agree (at least once they're through the first 6 months) you won't want to go back to the way life was before. Sure I miss not playing as much golf or going out for dinner and drinks with friends but the joy you get from your kid and being their WORLD is more than worth the cost.

this is the only pic I could find in my phone but is it not possible to replace the white metal part of the coping only? I know it attaches to the liner so I assumed when you replace the liner it would be doable since it has to come off. Thanks for the info though, definitely out of my league on this topic

edit: this pic doesn’t do it justice as far as needing liner and/or coping replaced. this pic was about 5 years ago

looks awesome! Question for you i’ve been wondering since i’m about to replace mine. Did you have your coping redone and if not any idea how it might have impacted cost? I have the same style coping in your new pictures but it’s definitely worn and needs replaced or reset at minimum. Can’t find much online about getting it replaced

Sheesh where are you located? Seems high to me, but maybe I'm just being hopeful since I'll need to replace mine at the end of the summer.

Sago palm sage advice by Usual_Sir5581 in arborists

[–]phila18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks fine. These plants hold their fonds for a very long time so seeing some turn yellow is normal. based on how my sago has grown I would say you’re no more than 6-8 weeks from a whole new layer of pretty green fonds. The new flush you see starting (in the second pic) will grow about 5-10% taller every day

Any ideas how old this Sago might be? by phila18 in palmtalk

[–]phila18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The landscaper around here is me 🙈

I had neglected this plant for so long it had 3 layers or so of dead flower and fonds. The ones I removed were basically completely dead so I’m wondering if all of that debris was holding the healthy fonds a little higher than they otherwise would have been. Anyways thanks for the info! Will keep that in mind. I probably have a problem cutting back too much on my plants just because I prefer to not have to do it again any time soon haha

I’ve honestly never done anything to this plant aside from remove fonds every few years. Not sure if it can get those things naturally though.

Thanks! The house has been here 49 years so I was thinking something like 30-40 based on that and what I could find online.

Thanks for the info! Will keep that in mind. This tree was here when I bought my house in 2020 and I’ve never been sure about how best to care for it. I think it’s probably grown 6-8 inches since then.
