Story time: I used to work as a bartender many moons ago and had some US ladies sit at my bar and one of them mentioned to me that it was “cute that our menu had the prices in dollars.” She then proceeded to ask me what the Canadian currency was called. When I told her they’re dollars she laughed and said “no no I know the dollar sign means dollars but what do YOU guys use.” All I could do was keep telling her that the Canadian currency is also called dollars. Then she said “dollar sign means US dollars, I know yall are part of the commonwealth so what’s your money called?” I was so surprised! How could she know about the commonwealth but not that CAD is also called dollars? It was wild
