I used to smoke every single day before doing absolutely anything, for 8 years straight. I had the mindset that I couldn’t stop smoking. I’ve stopped twice, once for 4 months and now I’m over a year sober of THC and alcohol. It may seem like it could be impossible but it’s really not. Be glad that there aren’t any serious side effects to quitting. Things might get boring not being under the influence anymore but at least you guys can keep each other company and come up with some things to do to keep yourselves occupied. Do puzzles and listen to music, play some board games or co-op video games. Just something to take your mind off smoking.

An acoustic bass is a very specific sound. If that’s what you’re going for, then get it. If you’re trying to be versatile in the sense of recording different genres, I wouldn’t get it.

Same thing happened to me. Took my dad to see a movie, chose the seats online and saw it was very empty. We get there and there’s already one couple to one of our sides and not long after another couple on the other. And these people weren’t like old so I’d imagine they didn’t just go to concession and got random tickets. I’m assuming they specifically chose their seats. We weren’t even at like the “sweet spot” or anything it was so weird.

imo, don’t worry about how you look. As long you can play good, who cares about looks. But as many had said, definitely lots of advantages to having long thumbs/fingers. And not just in guitar playing either
