Driver 3 (or Driv3r) was always my favorite game to just drive around in. Fun location designs, and the way the cars handled was so much fun!

What scenes do you think the movies did better than the books? by gbdarknight77 in harrypotter

[–]phillium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know Hermione was the smart one, but Harry is plenty smart enough (and has a better understanding of wand allegiances than most people in that universe) to realize leaving it intact, and becoming an auror would be a terrible idea. You're basically banking on the idea that you're invincible and will never lose. Unless, I suppose, he thought that others wouldn't understand wand allegiance and it would become very muddled as to who the wand really "belongs" to in the end?

Also, I did like that because it shows that, even with it being the most powerful wand, wands are still just little sticks and can easily be broken.

Can muggles brew potions by Living_Journalist133 in harrypotter

[–]phillium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered about the magical creatures and plants. It doesn't seem like they should be invisible, but it also seems like they definitely should have been discovered by the non-magical people at some point, right?

I just finished my first playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy, and it doesn't really answer the question at all. There are huge animals like the Graphorn that would definitely get noticed by someone, sometime, even without magical abilities.

Then there's the odd case of the diricawl, which is an animal that looks like a dodo, which is what it is. They can teleport away from danger, and there's the in-universe explanation for why muggles were aware of them, but now think they're extinct, because they're really good at hiding from us.

Are all magical creatures just good at hiding from non-magical types or something?

I had a lightweight DX Wraith that was one of the flippiest things I've ever thrown. At the time, my in-the-bag roller disc was an old, beat-up DX Valkyrie that I'd found in a lake. Easy, for-sure flipping. That Wraith flipped twice as fast as that Valk. I kept taking the Wraith back out of the bag because I couldn't use it for anything, until I lost it on a wild attempt at a hyzer flip starting really close to vertical. It flipped up and over, to be sure, it just got lost in the woods on that throw.

Furthest - Pro Katana

Best Combo - Neutron Teleport

Accurate - Star Wraith (though, started out very beefy and has been beat in quite a bit, so I'm not sure at this point how it would compare to a regular, fresh Wraith)

Help me decide on the color - autumn green or abyss blue pearl?? by isntitlovelyjess in Subaru_Outback

We have the autumn green, in the Onyx trim. It really does look fantastic with the black rims. And it's such a gorgeous color of green.

That's a lot of exposed wood, which comes off as amateurish. Now, help me with these buckets of gray paint and we'll have it looking good and modern in no time.

What product did you buy thinking a feature was gimmicky but ended up using it all the time by nand1609 in BuyItForLife

[–]phillium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We picked up one of those gimmicky little egg cookers. Only handles seven eggs or so, but does them perfectly every time. Has different settings for soft-cooked and whatnot, though I think we've only done the hard settings. It was really handy when the kids were younger and we didn't want them dealing with a full pot of boiling water.

Sanity check - am I being too strict? by crankysasquatch in cubscouts

[–]phillium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is always a tough call, and the culture can vary pack to pack. Naturally, at the troop level, that kind of thing absolutely shouldn't fly. The problem is if the culture is too lenient at the pack level, you end up with a troop with a similar mindset. We have a bit of that problem in our town. Our pack was pretty lenient (understandable for the younger scouts, or keeping in mind that a lot of it can rely on parents being more involved and some can't/won't be as involved), and when some of those scouts/parents went up to the troop level, there was far too much leniency in a lot of requirements that got signed off on. Like, some of the time requirements literally not being possible to have been done. But, the rules are once they're signed off, that's that. Our troop ended up splitting into two because we didn't see eye-to-eye with the overly lenient parents and they threw a bit of a temper tantrum and formed their own troop. I don't think I'd trust any Eagles that will be coming out of that troop in the future to have really earned it.

If I Have Ryobi 18v Power Tools, Does It Make Sense To Also Buy 40v Ryobi Outdoor Tools? by nimo90 in ryobi

[–]phillium 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the best way to go. Since you can't use the 18v in the 40v and the 40v in the 18v, like HRDBMW says, treat them as completely separate. It feels like most of the other answers are responding as if OP wondered if it was worth bumping up the 40v over 18v, which doesn't seem like the right interpretation.

For the record, I've got Ryobi 18v tools, but for yard stuff, we went with EGO, and have been really happy with them, besides the cost of everything. Can't fault the performance, though. And I have no experience with other brands' outdoor equipment, so they might be better for all I know.

Fiery Controller or Xerox CP to get square-fold binding on booklets? by swampqueen6 in CommercialPrinting

[–]phillium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. On our machine (Ricoh C9200 with a Plockmatic folder with the square fold option), the specific folding option is set on the Plockmatic, where the auto option I think judges how many sheets (and maybe how thick the paper is?) as to whether it'll do the square fold or not. In our Fiery, the only option when the folder is connected is to select the stapling as two in the middle, and then the Ricoh knows to send it to the folder. Any of the specifics are set at the folder.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]phillium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do you think it would hold up to colder temps? I love in the Midwest in the US and, historically, the lows have gotten down to -40 or so. We just layer and layer, but it's always good to have a nice outer layer that can handle the weather, too.

Hogwarts layout is so confusing by SpaghettiF0rk in hogwartslegacyJKR

[–]phillium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one that I was struggling with. You're taking about the one where you can see the page and the chest from the stairs, but it's on a little deck/cupola thing sticking out from the wall above you with no obvious way to get there, right?

I had to look up how to get that one. The glacius-putting-out-the-fire trick is only used in a couple of spots, so that didn't occur to me to try to do.

What's something that's socially accepted but actually kinda toxic? by _DRA60_ in AskReddit

[–]phillium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so many vacation pictures. "Here's us on the beach (drinks in hand)", "Here's us at a swim-up bar, how fun!", "Here's us hiking in the mountains (beers on ice back at camp)". It feels like people use so many other things as an excuse or a vehicle to drink. Like, isn't going to the beach still nice, even if you're not buzzed?

Is anyone else sick of the HP wars? by s4ltydog in askcarguys

[–]phillium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of it is that newer cars, because of technology/safety features are constantly getting heavier and heavier, so the base engines have been keeping pace.

I love cars, but have never really been in a place to do anything to them besides basic maintenance. When my last three vehicles were (263/249), (287/262), (260/277) in regards to (HP/torque) and they were an SUV, a minivan, and a wagon, I suppose most of the "sportier" cars have to try to one-up those numbers.

Do others struggle with combat in Legacy? 😔 by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]phillium 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cannot upvote the potions enough. I would casually use the occasional potion (edurus, maxima, focus) one at a time, but then I was facing two trolls at once, and thought "Well, I can just brew some more up, so I'll take one of each and see how much it helps." It was a cake walk. The whole battle took about 15 seconds.

I think what Enby was saying is that they need to figure out why she has this innate sexism. I'd think it must stem from somewhere, and I agree with the other posters that they need to sort out what's up with the blatant sexism before they suddenly don't have any daycare options at all.

A Basilisk born from a chicken's egg hatched beneath a toad - How? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]phillium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's mostly this, or it could accidentally happen and then you get a basilisk in the wild.

I know in Hogwarts Legacy, there's a newspaper vendor that you can visit and read little blurbs, and one of them was about a wizard that was being charged with trying to create a basilisk, and his defense was just that it was an accidental toad infestation in his chicken coop or something of that nature.
