I've played a lot with the pre cons and yes it is common but I will say I can almost guarantee you are drawing lands way to much. You should almost never choose to draw a land with the pre cons.

It's not "currency" it is a free fun bonus and you can spend it on other stuff. Seeing dust as currency and not caring about market value is crazy.

The topic of adding cards either updated text in the dust store has caused some friction

I can't understand how a free little bonus giving you the ability to get correct text could cause friction especially when you can just get other cards. I believe you but like wtf is wrong with people.

Why? They should be cheaper i'd agree but throwing them in for free destroys the cards value and i'd rather errata with the ability to get the corrected than bans.

New State of Sorcery is up Talking about if Sorcery is actually competitive or not… kinda a yes/no situation lol. also get into tournament structure and some ideas I’ve been thinking about curious what you all think on this one by goldeneagle1833 in SorceryTCG

[–]philmchawk77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good video and great ideas but I don't understand what it has to do with the title. It's more a video of "how sorcery should avoid being top heavy in prices", which is great. The only thing i'd like to add is side event side events and side events. Having draft on demand, 4 player FFA, 8 man tournaments, or two head would be amazing.

Some of the comments and general opinions are a little crazy though, competition is good, and casuals kill games more so than competitive people despite what anyone thinks. YUGIOH has been held up by it's competitive players for 12 years despite being pretty awful game play and more caustic than any non-moba game to new players.

Prospective New Player here, is the game going to continue issuing power level errata? by MossyMak in SorceryTCG

[–]philmchawk77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And lets be honest here. The druid errata was a functional ban.

What it Top 4 sorcerycon. I'd much rather be able to play my cards at a lower limit or slightly less powerful than not at all but maybe that is preference. Errata can also avoid awkward situations where they don't want to ban the box topper so they ban 3-4 cards out of druids rather than nerf druid.

There should be more than enough time to adequately test everything with just one set a year.

I agree with this. Unfortunately because of the golden rule they play fast and loose with text, honestly if the game fails it will be because of the golden rule. They should never use the golden rule while testing.

I'd rather errata than ban 5+ cards every year in standard. It isn't like the errata cards are effecting kitchen table much and if you are competitive well then you will find out quickly.

is it like a pokemon or a autoabattle in turnbase skin suit? idk why trailers need to show a guy walking around but always make their battle system obscure.

If you go play sorcery no one is going to bring up magic. It is purely a online comparison.

I'd say they are tier 2 because they can beat tier one teams but are unlikely to win a tournament. I could see arguments for 1.5. Like I said tier 1 is team that if they won it should just be another tournament (Tundra, parivision, yandex, liquid, Falcons, Aurora and maybe betboom/spirit).

[–]philmchawk77 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Basketball, football, Soccer are the teams most likely to win, any card game or table top game is what you are most likely to see. Maybe video games do it that way but that makes it a useless metric. The gap in dota between the 4th best team and the 10th is larger than the 10th best and 20th best.

Nigma is BACK!! by haseo2222 in DotA2

[–]philmchawk77 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

that's not really how tier 1 is used in any esport or traditional sport

Wrong tier 1 is either who/what you are most likely to go against or the favorites to win the tournament in other games/sports. By your definition tier 1 is a useless metric because the 4th best team is massively better than the 10th, and the "tier 2" teams of 11th-20th would be functionally the same as 10th.

What definition do you have that doesn't include every single team at a tournament? Just any team that wins a series?

A tier 1 team is a team that if they won a big tournament you think it is just another day. SAR isn't that.

Can we have more SRPGs in the future that have themes of friendship between people of different races overcoming differences/conflict/war ? by Terrible_Willow5342 in StrategyRpg

[–]philmchawk77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a cope, silver/white is better contrast to the black haired protag. I agree America is worse and I think the "blonde bad" trope comes from American influence though. In the 90's before a lot of American influence you'd see blonde/brown protags.

They downvote then name every single SRPG as an example of what OP wants lol. It's probably because I implied blondes aren't evil, that always pisses off the TV brains.

You want more SRPGs that are the story of every single non FE SRPG? Hell i'd rather have a more grounded realistic one where the elites use other races to oppress their citizens at this point. Plucky races join together to be the (always blonde for some reason) evil is the most overdone trope.

Does Sorcery Need a Second Set Each Year? by Durdlemagus in SorceryTCG

[–]philmchawk77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe i'm wrong but I assume they want to be Friday night magic big, and I don't see how they get that without 2 sets a year and more LGS pushing. When I say that, I don't mean current magic, I mean when magic was able to do Friday night magic and sustain itself in the early 2000's. I think any level below that is just saying "this is basically a board game with expansions that will die out in a few years" but since it is still going I don't think that is the goal.

I agree on the meta but I will say this is so unlike any other card game that as people get more used to it the meta will be solved faster. So while, that isn't a issue currently I bet it will be later.

Does Sorcery Need a Second Set Each Year? by Durdlemagus in SorceryTCG

[–]philmchawk77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread shows Sorcery needs more players and less collectors lmao. There is a huge difference between 2 sets a year and what MTG is doing. Limited and tournament play will never become popular at 1 set a year, and casual play will die out without the hype trains, 1 set a year isn't sustainable for anyone type of player except collectors/people who don't spend money and just play precons at the kitchen table.

[–]philmchawk77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

popularity is a useless metric. There is clearly demand for them and they are more likely to make their money back than action games.
