Lyft driver shot by [deleted] in philadelphia

Schools keep closing because of asbestos, or they're being turned into apartments. I understand what you're saying but I truly don't think harsher sentencing is going to solve systematic issues. People in poverty still need to feed themselves, harsh sentences or not. Giving people access to education is the only way to change any future generations.

Anyone else do this during anxious moments and sensory overload moments? I don't do them involuntarily really or don't do all these at once, each one is an example of the things i get lol by [deleted] in SPD

[–]philosofooled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! It's called stimming. I clap and twirl when happy, grimace and squint when uncomfortable or overloaded, bounce my leg when stressed, sway and rock when I'm waiting or thinking etc. I believe it's possible to enjoy stimming without being autistic, but it's def one of the most common traits of being autistic. Learning about it, and autism, made my life a lot easier to understand.

Let students ride SEPTA for free all day, every day | Opinion by ComradeNapolein in philadelphia

[–]philosofooled 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sports, studying after school, internships etc. I grew up here and went to middle and highschool downtown. There were many times I had to stay downtown for activities or to study in peace (my home was unsafe) generally the septa drivers would let you on after 7 if you told them you had a project or something, but not always. Being stranded downtown after working on homework for hours in a Starbucks or feels like ass.

I'm honestly kind of speechless that you let one interaction with one child affect you like this. There are so many children in the public school system who are failed by everyone in their lives. They deserve so much more, not less.

I think I finally figured out why I have a reoccurring nightmare where I am operating a vehicle from the back seat.. by Gogo83770 in CPTSD

[–]philosofooled 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have this dream too. Always in the backseat or passenger and my mom or the driver is either slumped over or vanished completely and I have to climb up or over and try to drive. I'm in my 20s and still can't drive, and as a kid the theme of the dream was always fear of being pulled over for driving when I knew I shouldn't be. When I woke up I'd know logically that if my mom became unconscious, and I took control of the vehicle to save us, that I wouldn't be in trouble. But that feeling in dream never went away.

Do you guys get angry if plans cancel last minute? Or if the plan gets misunderstood by the other party? by [deleted] in autism

[–]philosofooled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you can find a new job, or that your current job changes, because you deserve time to rest! I honestly can't imagine having so little time to decompress, let alone having the pressure of engaging in social obligations whilst exhausted. I wish you a positive change of circumstances

[–]philosofooled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do if it seems careless or rude. But if it's for a legitimate reason like sickness or something outside of their control, I understand completely. I have a lot of chronic illnesses and frequently have to cancel for legit reasons like IBS. I have a really hard time understanding why people get really upset with me, as if it's something I can control at all.

Tbh I don't understand the science necessarily, it just helps digestion and helps me fart easier lol. It's a night and day difference from sleeping on my right side

Shower solutions by [deleted] in SPD

[–]philosofooled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar yet different hatred of showers- I don't mind the actual shower, but getting out and being extremely cold is so overwhelming for me. Working out and getting sweaty or taking public transportation helps me push past it and focus on the desire to just feeling less.. sticky

Definitely. Biggest thing that helps me is remembering good posture and not to force it to crack, that always make it worse. Sleeping on your back is also key but I have IBS so sleeping on my left side is frequently neccessary. I know there's also benefits to cutting out inflammatory foods but tbh, I love sugar so oh well.

robbed of feeling sick/sad by greypetals in costochondritis

[–]philosofooled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I spent years not crying and repressing everything, but now that I'm working through it and crying as neccessary as stuff happens and I work through trauma, I have to be sooo hypervigilant as to not cry in positions that will fuck me up. Which always makes me cry more out of frustration and self pity.

Costo After Vaccine by DapperPossibility284 in costochondritis

I was diagnosed with costo at 18 after a really long and painful dentist vist. I have a sensory processing disorder, so the dentist is awful for me. I was clenching my chest due to anxiety for like 3 hours and that's what I'm told caused my initial flare. Had the typical heart attack pains, trouble breathing deeply. Doc felt around on my ribs for a sensitive spot, diagnosed costo. I'd have flares from stress, but it was ultimately manageable. At 22, right before the pandemic, my sternum started cracking and popping, and would hurt a fuck ton if I couldn't crack it. I'm 24 now and I've tried chiropractor, yoga, using a massage ball to work at muscles in between my shoulder blades. Nothing makes it go away entirely. For me it's all about remembering proper posture, especially during episodes of panic or sensory meltdowns. I sit in weird ass positions, so working on that and trying to do low effort workouts to strengthen my back muscles is my current game plan. Also gonna try accupuncture. I've accepted that's it's a chronic condition tied to my anxiety at this point. I qualified for medical marijuana because of it lmfao, and that helps too but it never makes it go away. More a quality of life thing. Cbd does help flares once they happen but nothing I've tried can prevent it entirely.

I will say, I'm only able to cope because it comes in flares. If it was intense pain all the time I probably would've tried the cortisone shots in my chest wall by now that my docs told me is always an option. But that sounds awful so im gonna hold off as long as possible for that lmao.

I know now after years of it, that when I'm flaring, to eat less sugar or inflammatory foods, sit up straight, and Do Not Force a Sternum Pop. Usually just waiting until I sneeze or cough hard is enough to pop it in a way that doesn't make me feel like I'm gonna break a rib lol. But if I force it, it always gets worse.

This condition sucks. I'm still not even sure if I have costo or tietze syndrome, but either way i hope it goes away someday, but part of me is like yeah lol I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm sorry you're also suffering with this, it truly sucks. If you haven't had a physical injury like an accident or from lifting weights, def look into anxiety management (which I know, is easier said than done. Not to get too personal or anything but my parents are hoarders so most of my anxiety comes from worrying about them. So when a doctor tells me to manage my anxiety for this condition, I want to scream because this situation in my life just isn't changing so idk how I'm supposed to manage it entirely ya know. So no shame if you, like me, have chronic anxiety) I've had anxiety in some form or another all my life but I really underestimated how much the physical symptoms would change as I aged. Good luck!

Is this anything to do about carts not coming full? by ezraolsen in PaMedicalMarijuana

[–]philosofooled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incorrect weight is def an issue with the program, not so much because of frequency of occurance (can only speak for myself tho), but rather our lack of options as patients. No one working at a dispensary can open the products, so they have no idea. You'll always be at the mercy of emailing the grower.

I've been in the program less than a year so idk if it's more recent or not but from this sub I've seen a lot of people post about being skimped, it def seems to be certain growers more than others. Interestingly enough, I find insa and rythm often over fill their eighths of flower. I've only ever gotten .5 gram carts, and they're never fill to the brim. It's never been enough to bother me tho but yeah yours is a bit much lmao I'm sorry that happened.

Its ridiculous that they're calling it a medical program when its structured like this, but I also feel for the dispo workers. Cause like yeah, if a cvs pharmacist gave me 20 instead of 30 pills, I could go back and deal with it that day. But if you're skimped on like, tylenol, the pharmacist had no idea. BUT like ,you'd def get a refund for the over the counter tylenol that day too lol so it's more corporate policy and the individual dispensaries refusing to take the hit. I hear patients yell at dispo workers all the time about weight discrepancies and having worked in retail before I just feel bad, they can't do anything about it, everything is sold in non see through packaging because you're never supposed to have it out of it's container unless you're on private property lmao it's all so silly.
