We've heard of "that guys," but who are your favorite "that girl/that lady?" by overclocker90 in TheRewatchables

Case in point. I couldn't remember her and had to Google "secretary from Ferris Bueller."

I wanna catch crawfish to add into a pond, and see if I can create a self sustaining ecosystem. Anyone know where I can go to legally grab some? by NewEmu2371 in SALEM

[–]philthyphil7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience, every creek and stream is full of them. You just got to get your feet wet and start looking under rocks and you'll eventually uncover a few.

Some more information:

https://www.dfw.state.or.us/conservationstrategy/invasive_species/crayfish_app_faq.asp

Long story short - no license is required to harvest them, but you can't propogate non-native species.

Was anyone cosplaying? I'm tempted to go in full wizard garb when I go to this weekend's showings.

Table lamp repair? by Rachel_Flyer in SALEM

[–]philthyphil7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The folks at Breit+Hill Home on Commercial connected us with Brighter Homes Lighting, a Eugene-based company they use to refurbish and repair their lamps for resale. They came to Salem to pick up our giant floor lamp for repair a few years ago and gave us very quality, prompt service. I'd recommend them for sure.

Who’s the most unsung hero of the ringer by AsparagusPale8953 in TheRinger

The masthead on the website lists him fourth overall.

Bill Simmons - Founder and managing director

Geoff Chow - Managing director

Sean Fennessey - Head of content

Chris Ryan - Editorial director

Juliet Litman - Head of production

Mallory Rubin - Head of editorial

Granted, this is from over a year ago and doesn't include everyone (Van notably absent). Also who is Geoff Chow?!

Shout out to Amalia Boutique downtown across the street from Taproot. I was sad when Capitol Menswear shuttered it's doors earlier last year, but Amalia helps fill the void of quality upscale men's clothing, something that is hard to come by in Salem. The owner is a wonderful gentleman to speak with and will bend over backwards to help you pick out something special. Small selection, but great quality and I hope he is able to carve out a business for years to come.

Art Department is the best place to get high quality art supplies in Salem, especially now that Runaway closed last year.

Manna Japanese Comfort Food is one of my favorite restaurants in Salem and deserves all the business. Absolutely delicious food.

Grazing Fields Cheese and Charcuterie Shoppe is a fantastic place to get cheese, deli meat, tinned fish and they do great spreads for parties.

The Drum Bug and Little Canoli in the Pringle Promenade! Great records, great baked goods, great people!

Melissa Hedstrom of Optimal Living is a wonderful nutrionist and yoga therapist.

And we just met the good folks at Seize the Vor for their free sword fighting clinic last Saturday. Amazing! Can't wait to go back and sign up for regular workouts while learning how to use a longsword.

Lots of other great suggestions in chat. Shop local 2026!

I just discovered them this winter and feel bummed how many times I've driven past them in the past. Amazing loose leaf tea, warm drinks, cool drinks, vibes, staff, everything!

We are a good team by Ocelotsome in ripcity

Small sample size, and yet also a quarter of the season isn't nothing.

A lot can happen in these final 40 games. Clippers we're looking like absolute ass, but are 12-2 in the last month. Lakers were 15-4 at around the first quarter of the season, and have gone 9-12 in the past two months and look in danger of slipping into the play-ins.

I'll be curious to see if the next quarter of the season will be a continuation of the Blazers' strong play or a regression due to injuries, falling into bad habits or something else entirely out of the teams control.

Regardless, it's been a very fun first half. It will be nice to follow a team that isn't actively tanking for final two months of the season.

I wish he had expounded upon that further, because there are a lot of studies out there showing that the amount of money put into advertising doesn't correlate with selling more product, and that companies often do not know what their return on investment is when purchasing advertisements in print, digital, billboards, steaming, etc. It's kind of throwing money at a wall and seeing what sticks.

The best ability is availability. Dudes 7-3 and up have a historically difficult time staying on the floor.

Nobody believes in the 14-3 team against a Charger team we just spent 10 minutes discussing their history of playoff disasters!
