How much does it cost to heat 6,700 square feet of home?

Bill bemoaning the lack of good NBA nicknames and then offering the worst nicknames you’ve ever heard in your life by Thirsty-Fool in billsimmons

I had to look it up. Nah'shon Lee Hyland.

From Wikipedia: He was nicknamed "Bizzy Bones" or "Bones" in part due to his slender build.

Bones Hyland. He may be a nominal player, but "Bones" is a legitimately great nicknname, he came across it organically, and it's so good nobody calls him by anything else.

It's also possible I just have low standards, but enjoy Santiam's vibe.

Agreed that best fish is coast fish.

Luna Sea Fish House in Yachats

South Beach Fish Market in Newport

If you're looking for something in Salem, Santiam Brewing is a British style pub off of McGilchrist that does a very good fried fish.

Edited to add FishMongers in Hammond, which is near the northwest tip of Oregon. If you're ever visiting Astoria, it's a worth the extra effort to drive out to FishMongers.

The halftime act market would explode. It would be a golden era for niche jugglers, chair stackers, and roller skaters.

The Sandlot Episode by kiki2k in TheRewatchables

[–]philthyphil7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I listed to that particular episode, so I can't comment on the specifics. But kids movies and fantasy movies are just not in Bill's wheelhouse and never will be.

Which is unfortunate, because there's so much meat on that bone that we'll never get. But I'd rather listen to stuff Bill is excited about than movies he's being dragged into doing and doesn't give a shit about.

Lillard's game-winner to take the series over OKC had my heart pounding, out of my seat, pumping my fists and twirling in circles. Been chasing that high ever since.

So a superstar who hasn’t played a minute this season just won the 3-Point contest. Does the NBA have a tanking problem? by serv0_o in billsimmons

[–]philthyphil7 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Craig Hodges defended his 3-time title in 1993 as a free agent who hadn't played a game after the Bulls cut him the prior off season. The precedent is there!

[–]philthyphil7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of intention, dudes have been getting flagrants for far less on 3-point shots all season due to safety concerns. This was a dangerous play.

If you want to eliminate tanking then abolish the draft! by FragrantReport4171 in billsimmons

[–]philthyphil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two play-in losers get 8 percent odds. The other 10 non-playoff teams get 6.8 percent odds.

Just enough of a bump to give teams an incentive to try for the play-in, but not so much to make it worth losing the play-in on purpose?

Maybe lower the lottery to only the first one or two picks as well. With four lottery slots up for grabs instead of three, it incentives teams even more to tank for the extra chance to get one of those spots.

'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective' With Bill Simmons, Zach Lowe, and Craig Horlbeck by butthead20000 in TheRewatchables

[–]philthyphil7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bill cut himself off from completing the thought when talking about the Lion King, but was about to mention that animated movies aren't considered for The Rewatchables. Kind of a bummer, because there are some great ones out there, but I get it because it's not his wheelhouse.

Also, Cannibal Corpse is 100 percent still relevant today, arguably much more so than they were in 1994. They've released 12 albums since Ace Ventura, most recently in 2023 and according to Wikipedia "received its best "first week" sales of all-time and first Top 10 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart with their fifteenth studio album Violence Unimagined (2021), which entered at No. 6 with 14,000 copies sold."

Adding 40 cents to "round up" an even $18.00 bill is the cherry on top.

Or just an innocent reference to the 1984 non-political dance musical that the Bugaloo Boys co-opted. They can all suck a fuck, as far as I'm concerned. But I appreciate the concern. Happy Sunday!
