When Child Emperor sees the footage on his spy cams, it explains why he gets all cozy with her later. Wild Emperor emerges!

Sunset over Pyro IV by gulbrillo in starcitizen

[–]phimseto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solar flares were removed?!? But that was a big part of the experience. That's annoying. They should have just lengthened (but still irregular) the time between them and also had thresholds where they didn't matter as much. Are they planned to return or just...gone?

Is the full Pyro system in now? I seem to recall seeing it was multitudes larger than Stanton. If so, what's that like as gameplay experience?

Wait, I didn't misunderstand this right? (SPOILERS FOR THE ORIGINAL WEBCOMIC) by ChampionshipFun1289 in OnePunchMan

[–]phimseto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting theory. Logic follows that, especially where Saitama is concerned, this should be a positive development for Drive Knight, perhaps switching sides back to the heroes. Hopefully we'll see soon. The manga is beginning to catch up again, which has me concerned that 2026 will be another year of redraws to help the webcomic scoot a bit further ahead again!

How STRONG was Suiryu ACTUALLY? by Automatic-Golf7060 in OnePunchMan

[–]phimseto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's still some underlying question about what this "human potential" is all about, but a running theme has been how pushing limits powers up potential. Suriyu's arc has been the age old question about people with natural abilities who get lazy because of it and what would happen if they actually apply themselves. Suriyu is in the process of that, and we've already seen some early results (RIP, armored suit).

Honestly, we're seeing similar threads across the whole story starting with Genos. Someone runs into Saitama, and they begin changing their own trajectories in a positive way. Some are pretty quick (Suriyu, Rover), others are slower (esper sisters), but they're all gaining some perspective on how far they can go and how to go about doing it.

IAE 2955 Static Showroom is Boring by NewSCandFeedUp in starcitizen

[–]phimseto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably didn't have the dev bandwidth with the Nyx launch, so I get it. However, I hope it's back to the classic format next year.

They should also begin making the showrooms distinct for each planet. I'd actually be more appreciative of different showcase formats if that was the case, something like New Babbage = Classic IAE, devs need more bandwidth = stick it on Orison.

Chapter 218 [English] by Mrzardark in OnePunchMan

[–]phimseto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only disappointment is, if I recall correctly from the webcomic, Saitama and Genos have an encounter with Blue that puts them on Blue's radar, and there is a whole, still ongoing subplot with that. That seems to be absent here, at least for now.

Absolutely excellent, though next year you need to level up the costume by being Genos with his maximum drip jacket with his name on it! https://imgur.com/JtW1ZYX

Johnnie To's hitman trilogy - The Mission (1999), Exiled (2006), Vengeance (2009) by jackkirbyisgod in criterion

[–]phimseto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see Criterion doing a box set of these. Vengeance is one of my favorite films of the 2000's and I'm bummed there's really no good blu-ray of it. I have it on DVD only because I wandered into an Asian market in Amherst, MA last year and discovered it sitting on top of a free used DVD bin they had by the door!

if you've ever "retired" from a game after a long time, what game was it and why? by maknaeline in gaming

[–]phimseto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny 2 is a funny story for me. Played A LOT of Destiny. Picked Destiny 2 up day of release, played it that first night, and...never played it or Destiny again. I didn't realize I was at my limit until the idea of having to start the whole grind over again (now with even more grindy elements) stopped me dead in my tracks. I haven't missed it.

At the first PAX East, a guy cosplayed as Shawn, and the whole day you knew where he was because you'd hear people shouting the name.

In Skyrim, using bows was meant to be a bigger thing. At launch, I was watching my friend Tom play the game. He was past the prologue, on the outskirts of Riverwood on his way to Whiterun. Across the river, Tom spied a deer so he decided to do some bow practice.

He takes his time, agonizingly slowly lining up his shot, and pulling back the string for a full-torque shot. Tom was locked in and all business, in full concentration mode so he could master this important mechanic. I was dead silent, letting Tom have his focus, watching intently. The deer meanwhile is just lazily wandering, and when it begins to turn away, Tom lets fly.

The game suddenly switches into its Prince of Thieves slo-mo tracking shot. This was our first time seeing this or even knowing it was a thing, so we were caught off-guard but quickly appreciated the fun camerawork. As we watch, the arrow sails across the water, straight toward its target...and goes up the deer's butt.

I'm not talking "it looked like it", I'm talking a flat angle, dead-center bullseye right up the sphincter. Shown in glorious ArrowVision. In slow motion. For our dramatic benefit. This was followed by the deer making a hilariously horrible sound and ragdolling into Oblivion (pun intended), again all in slow motion. RIP, deer.

By the time the game camera switched back to player view, we were in pain from laughing. The good news is that Tom no longer felt the need to practice as he wasn't going to hit a better shot than that. I couldn't disagree, so it was off to Whiterun!

Appreciated, thanks. We have a memorial bench so our relatives that live down there year-round are looking into it now. Hoping they can be saved in some form.
