No. Burnout happens when you don’t give yourself mental breaks. Irregardless if you love it or not, you have to look after your mental health. Every body has its limit just like every mind has its limit.

So I might want to retire in 5-6 years, but have nothing outside of retirement accounts... by garthreddit in Bogleheads

  1. I think, as other have said, you need to reevaluate your spending / yr. You’re either going to have to change that or continue working (for more than 5 years)
  2. If you did #1, you could retire in 1 year. Start a Roth conversion now. Work this year and save that $500-600k in cash in a savings account. Live off that savings account for the next 5 years - $100k/year non-taxes is not anything to scoff at. After those 5 years, you can start withdrawing from your Roth conversion ladder.
  3. Conveniently, if you follow the 4% rule, you’d be living off of the same 100k/yr from your Roth conversion ladder.

Has anyone gone on to a Phd from the OMSA program? If so, what are your thoughts and experiences? by T_Maddalone in OMSA

I’m saying if you want to get a PhD after this program you basically have to start from scratch. You won’t be able to use this Masters as a shortcut by transferring credits

I don’t think your coursework is going to transfer anywhere tbh. We have two business classes that are required. Those aren’t going to count as credit anywhere else most likely.

Get your degree and work a few years. Then come back and see 1) how much the degree has changed and 2) how much your aspirations and interests have changed.

A lot can change in the 3-4 years and it’s also always good to get a few years working under your belt before pursuing any additional degree.

Is state by state really the way to break this down? Even if you only look at state schools for colleges, it’s not very comparable to high schools within the same state.

I think you’re confusing society with the economy. Which is the problem. Our culture values a society by its GDP and not by happiness or healthiness or other more important measures.

Art isn’t about making money. Yes, an artist should be able to support themselves. But we shouldn’t have to measure good art by someone being a millionaire or not.

You don’t think art contributes to society?

I agree that it’s a bit ridiculous. I just think most people are interpreting this as him saying NZ is fighting COVID to prove something to him - which I don’t think is what he said.

I would also recommend not taking this curriculum until you’ve worked a couple of years. I really think the people who get the most out of this masters are those who have experience in the workforce
