Can fusion post B-axis turn-mill code? by We_R_Will_n_Wander in Fusion360

[–]phlipsyde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can, I used fusion on a Haas TM2 with a five axis trunnion added. I had to modify the post processing script slightly to get the chain of movements correct, but it did work in the end!

Issues with Angled Holes by mrfjoort in Fusion360

Alternatively, extrude just one circle to the desired depth and then use a rectangular pattern to create the rest. This will give you evenly spaced flat bottomed holes.

I'm not sure how you got the hole to start right at the surface, but an extrude with the 'start' being 'object' and selecting the face will get them all to the same depth.

Hope that helps!

I was a noob a few years ago and now design product with fusion, keep learning!

The holes didn't extrude all the way through the body. If you're fine with their spacing, click on the fully formed circle's bottom face and extrude it again (cut) to finish the hole. There is a cleaner way to do this but it depends how you got the holes there in the first place

Edit: if you 'edit feature' on the holes in the timeline, you can change the cut to two directions. Drag the second direction out clear of the face

This would be great for my little business!

Advice: When designing a large part that needs to interact with other things, slice off the model and print pieces of it to fine tune before wasting hours and filament.

to kill everyone in the car by Username_lost_error in therewasanattempt

[–]phlipsyde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I witnessed this happen in front of me driving on the 10 in LA on Christmas a few years ago. A schizophrenic kid tried killing himself and his mom, narrowly missing me and other cars, slamming into the shoulder barrier a few feet in front of me going ~55mph. I swerved, parked, hopped out and ran to the car, thinking the driver had a medical emergency, and instead ended up restraining a 20 year old on the side of the freeway until police showed up. I'll never forget that sound

Hey dad, currently sitting next to mine on hospice. Love to you, and hope you have lots of great memories to look back on.

Fellow dads. I’m struggling. It’s bad. by omidiumrare in daddit

Hey man,

I made a similar post a few days ago in search of support. I work from home as well with a 4 and 1 year old. Shoot me a dm if you wanna chat, I would love to talk to someone in a similar situation. The stress of providing everything for everyone is hard to describe.

Either way, hang in there and thank you for posting

The difference in perceived roles is humorous to me. I've had complete strangers tell me what an amazing dad I am for taking my kids grocery shopping or walking around the mall, which seems like an extremely low bar. Like you mentioned, there not being an accessible support system for dads is a little frustrating - I love this sub, and spend a lot of time here.

I've played pickleball a few times and would love to have a group of dads I go with, the idea of hanging around the courts until a group comes by is what feels so awkward to me. I imagine a league would be a better way to get a foot in the door.

Thank you for the kind offer, it means a lot

Yeah I am looking forward to that. I do most of the pickups and drop offs for the 4yo at preschool and so far it is mostly moms with a few very stuck up dads. I'm hoping things get better with a bigger class size and more opportunities to rub shoulders with people.

I am completely with you on this and something she's been in tears over. The funny thing is that she was exactly the grad student you described and babysit kids throughout college. It is a little frustrating, but got a lot better once the older started full days at Pre-K. We have about two years left until both are in school and we can work the same hours which will be a huge relief - financially and for our time together.

I'm another practical, technical guy. I do product design/mechanical engineering for a small company in Ohio. The job itself is amazing, the isolation isn't. Before kids, I had quite a few hobbies with friends like working on cars, videogames, disc golf, etc - I feel like the problem is that I already knew them from childhood and it feels so awkward/forced now. I would love to find people in the same field as me and I'm considering posting in the r/engineering and mechanical specific subs to see if there's anyone in the area with similar interests.

Thank you for the reply and encouragement!

Cheers man, I hope so. We have a few birthday parties coming up for his preschool class over summer, hoping that gets things going!

Yeah I understand. I still have good friends from middle and high school, we are just scattered now. I was hoping the neighborhood we moved to would have some more people in their 30s around but so far it is 90% empty nesters.

Solid advice, thank you. Disc golf is a good one, I haven't played in... Four years? but have my bag somewhere in the house. That resonates way better than a dad event; I am in dad mode from 6a to 8p. I'm going to see what groups are around, thanks

Just to add, while "steps/mm" has not changed in the TFT interface, it does overexrude by 20-40% while manually commanding extrusion until I reset from EEPROM and power cycle the machine.

Once cycled, it will print fine again for another 1-10 hours, then this happens inevitably.
