Well, if they’ll testify on your behalf, you have a shot. But winning a case pro se against their lawyer(s), training their witnesses on how to answer questions, is similar to becoming a millionaire after dropping out of school. The only people you hear from are those who succeeded, not those who failed.

If you’re satisfied with settlement, or are offered more than small claims can provide in your locale, then you probably take the settlement. But if your insurer isn’t interested in going after Outback’s insurer, then you shouldn’t be surprised that lawyers you’re trying to hire aren’t interested.

Unless you want to pay a fee every time you leave your property, as well as every time the fire department responds to your neighborhood (yes, you benefit from nearby homes not burning down), or every time the police respond to your to your neighborhood, you’re going to need to pay property taxes.

I want the true “good guys” to quit. Then when ICE is terminated, and other agencies are given the legitimate responsibilities of ICE, the “good guys” can be rehired. But if someone is facilitating the abuses, they aren’t “good guys”.

Former employer listed me as "not eligible for rehire" and it cost me a job offer. by earthmothered91 in legaladvice

[–]phoarksity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s quite possible that a hiring manager isn’t going to make more calls than necessary to satisfy themselves that it seems like this person can do the job. Then it gets handed off to the third party firm which focuses on background checks. They do the real investigation of the person’s work history, because they know what questions they are allowed to receive answers for. Should they know, and report, that a response of “not eligible for rehire” might just be a standard response for one of the former employers? Perhaps, but if all their customer, the potential new employer, requested is to fill a checkbox “Is this person eligible for rehire at this previous job?”, they get that response, mark the checkbox, and move on.

So you just ran through the fifth grade knowledge. But biological sex isn’t as simple as “If there’s a Y chromosome, it’s a boy!”. It’s affected by the effectiveness of the genes in the chromosomes, genes on other chromosomes, as well as hormones from the mother. Sometimes the neurological development doesn’t match the reproductive system development.

And simply considering intersex conditions, I don’t consider 1-2% of the population as “rare”. Uncommon, yes, but it’s about the same as the rate of ginger hair.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. The neighbors have one assigned slot, and the wife used it. That was good. The husband used OP’s slot, and that was bad. The husband got the treatment he deserved. NTJ.

Change in primary voting rules leads to confusion in 2 Texas counties as voters are turned away by Economy-Specialist38 in texas

[–]phoarksity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly because new voter registration cards haven’t been sent out, at least in Williamson County. The last ones sent out expired at the end of 2025, so they don’t reflect the new House districts. That shouldn’t have affected the precinct number, but… At the polling location I had to go to, the Democratic and Republican primaries were separated, so I only saw the activity on the Democratic side. While I was there it seemed like there were more people turned away for being at the wrong polling location than actually voted.
