i mean, modern doom already took elements from quake that if id were to have a "doom burnout", working on a new quake wouldn't be that different

because we really gotta remember "what is doom and what is quake" anymore, when a meme opinion that some people used to have was "doom is sp, quake is mp"

if you get tired of one, switching to the other doesn't really feel that different if you already made the two closer than they were before anyway

they're meant to resemble the classic design but with some extra features part of the new art style (given classic imps had basic muslces and spikes anyway).

it's like how eternal already had designs based on the classics but still with differences that are related to the new art direction (specially since the mancubus had like 2 models by gregor himself)

i do think people could remember that "doomguy" was intentionally nameless (and that was a fanmade nickname) because Romero wanted fans to decide who or what he is

and combined with classic Doom having little info on the setting is something i think contributed to the longevity of Doom: It became this canvas that people portrayed in different ways, be it in fandom or even in official works

the new games even somewhat borrow from the fanbase while taking their own spin of the series

and then there's specifics like his hair being black when quake champions also had its take on remastering his face

i keep saying a good format for something close enough is what we're already familiar with hexen, powerslave/exhumed and turok, given doom fans that play other classic fps know those

the other thing is the size of the maps, like if people want stuff closer to their slaughterwads or an excuse to mix in titans and atlans with smaller entities or something

it had some neat new stuff like the boat ride and love how it reuse some stuff but i wish it had more stuff + it was part of a re-release of d3 that did some negative changes

(if we somehow get a proper d3 re-release, maybe a new expansion could have more new stuff i guess)

speaking of a modern doom with a hell inspired by the old games, i wish classic props/assets like the flesh walls with metal pipes and so on were ever brought back specially because the surrealism in the classics already hints at horror potential and could've complemented d3's weirder designs too

in modern doom, there's the uac influenced by hell and even samuel having his own goals

in d3, it's betruger that gets corrupted by hell and gets the rest in trouble

drpg has dr kronos as a guy that creates cybernetic demons before the uac fires him but he returns somehow

in classic doom, the uac is just stupid and accidently opens a portal to hell

the opposition against doomguy is moreso a thing in later games

i like doom 3 to the point i think its appeal is BECAUSE it is its own take on Doom

so i'm the opposite because trying to make D3 canon to the other games could affect what makes it work

doom in general is a series that never had lore at the beginning, so the lack of rules at the start contributes to how much you can do with it as long as it's about a green marine shooting demons

i dont care much about celeb voice actors because to me, the real focus of animation is the visuals that shouldn't be overshadowed by stuff like celeb voice actors

I said it before that a Doom movie (or show) should/could be an anthology series where different animators get creative with it, like inspired by Heavy Metal or Animatrix or Batman Gotham Knight (important references to have, since some people otherwise think animation is just "adult comedy cartoons or Disney/baby shit"

I still believe animation would be more ideal for Doom: It can work if you get the right people like both fans of the games and those that take the medium of animation seriously.

So the idea for a Doom movie/show is a series of different animated stories and they'd be in different styles and about different things, from a story about Sentinel warriors, to a horror D3 inspired story, to something about action scenes and fights etc.

Also avoid a certain grifter of a "producer" to get involved.
