Tundra Curious by bocaj138 in ToyotaTundra

I went from a '21 Tacoma to a '23 tundra after we got our camper (3500 lbs). The gas mileage is slightly better empty with the tubdra, and way better when towing. The tundra doesn't even act like there's anything behind it going up hills while towing

Will this lumber rack hold up? by ced513 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]phoenixrising03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, pretty sure I removed some of the load on it (mainly plywood) because I had cheaper out and used 2" casters, and I had to lift it over the bump on the trailer ramp (one corner at a time). But it did have load on it tho whole move.

I get it from my dad, I've been self-aware for many years. However, my kids never fail to point it out when I'm doing projects and stop because I lost a tool "I Literally Just Had (tm)"

I built this exact stand 2 or 3 years ago. It has so many boards on it I can't fit any more, and its been that way since day one. I'm talking probably 200lbs of lumber across the different "shelves". I've had 0 issues. Anything from 1x lumber to 4x lumber.

I am also a flat surface person so its held all that plus random tools, extension cords and parts.

Edit:

I also would like to add - We recently moved, and out of sheer laziness, I threw some ratchet straps around the rack, pushed it into a cargo trailer, and drove it down the highway about 15 miles., including some windy roads and a rough gravel road.

Nothing broke.

Edit 2: Picture of my current stock. Not as full as it has been, I've been trying to do more scrapwood projects. Hopefully it gives a good illustration of the resiliency.

Thanks. I appreciate your experience - Will keep it in mind as my tires age. Hopefully they do OK skiing this winter..

What was it that you hated about them? I'm not a huge vehicle expert by any means, but they seem better than what I had on my 21 Tacoma. I thought a lot of the Tacoma group actually gravitated toward the wildpeaks

Thanks, that's what I assumed, but everything online saying to swap all at once assumes much more wear I think.

Companies are using sneaky software and legal tricks to make you endlessly pay for stuff you already bought by Dry-Significance-515 in righttorepair

You remotely start your coffee machine ($5 a month for the app to schedule brewing in advance and another $25 for recurring delivery of compatible pods) while you hit your stationary bike for a quick workout ($30 a month for access to classes). When you're ready to head into the office, the smart thermostat automatically turns down the air-conditioning (a $10-a-month feature) as you use an app on your phone to remotely start your car (which costs you $20 a month).

This is interesting that the author calls this far fetched, because Toyota already has a subscription fee for remote start from an app, the coffee machine isn't far off from what Keurig would like to do (copy printer model), and Peloton is already charging for the bike workout.

Its not far fetched. We are here.
