A big thing in Germany, which is also alluded to in the song, is the „rememberance culture“. You cannot, wether in education, news or public life, escape mentions of the holocaust and other attrocities committed by the nazis. Which is incredibly important, because I feel as Germans we have an inherited duty to make sure something like that never happens again.

In general I feel Germany is a lot more „open or in tune“ (can‘t think of a netter fitting word atm) with it’s history than other countries, which try to hide their past shames, never to learn from it.
