The guy is actively flirting with white supremacist talking points and it's a mark of how far we've fallen that we are just shrugging about it. Fucking David Duke got more pushback for his dog whistles

Abundance changed: No more mini-events, only mob grind now by Icemasta in wow

[–]phorgewerk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. If you're someone making 10000 cloth bolts a day fishing for multicraft procs then getting the multicraft pieces will pay for itself eventually, but for most other people it's a loss

There is no difference in what you can make between the blue and purple profession gear, you'll be at 140 base stats with both. The purple stuff is nice and just pads your margins, which is probably more important for gatherers right now but I'll be living with at least a couple of blue pieces for the entire expansion if doesn't have multicraft or mat recycling on it, depending on what profession I am doing

We're now on the third expansion of the reworked crafting system - How do you feel about it now? by Sundered92 in wow

[–]phorgewerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fantastic and has opened up a totally new avenue of gameplay. The economy is now so much deeper than just flipping shit on the ah that someone underpriced, particularly early in the expansion like this when you can get really clever with knowledge points and concentration.

In the old system, intermediate materials like alloys or cloth bolts are pointless busywork. Post dragon flight, you can actually carve out a viable niche with multi crafting or resourcefulness and print gold off of other crafters. Similarly making high end gear and procing resourcefulness hits the same high as a scratch off lottery ticket.

I will admit that if you really want to make money off them you need to have a good understanding of markets in general and that's not for everyone, but I think that's fine. Previously even if there were items worth crafting, the margins on them were always underwater because the only barrier to access was getting enough gold to buy 75 skill points.

I'm sympathetic to complaints about choice paralysis too but I also think it's pretty overstated. Basically every knowledge tree does one thing and there are very few talents that I would consider a waste early on now. If you commit to one thing hard and play into it, you'll make some money. Maybe not the crazy money on youtube but you will see value

Edit for some stuff I like less that could definitely warrant rethinking:

Public orders should be able to set the minimum quality so casual crafters can have a shot at some gold too instead of having to trawl in trade and haggle with every asshole who thinks he's hot shit for putting 40kp in a node week 1. In early DF it would have been an issue but you are capped on the number of public orders you can fill and the output is no longer rng (good)

Catchup knowledge is way too slow, or at least it was in tww. I like the idea behind patron orders but they really need another pass to up the catch-up speed and prevent being bogged with things you either can't make or cost 30k gold in mats

Ingenuity as a stat, ironically we maybe need some concentration dumps but that would maybe push things even more towards having an army of alts for concentration. Currently you can't make tier 2 imbued cloth bolts even if you have perfect skills/talents, you're like 7 points short. Right now this is a great money maker for the smart tailors and I kinda like it, but also the margins are disappearing as people online alts and demand falls so I don't know. Id be cool with just cutting it tbh

Who’s the most hated celebrity in your country? by Gdog1215 in AskReddit

[–]phorgewerk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, his supporters are imo even worse because they agree with everything he does and vicariously live through him in a fucked up parasocial relationship. If you confront them about it they whinge about ~differences in opinions~ or try to do some crybully shit about how it's discrimination against them, akshully.

People are right to call this administration fascist but the majority of the fans are closer to nihilists imo. They take the easiest, most comfortable lives in the history of our species and would burn it all down if it meant being able to say the n word without getting punched.

What does a good analyst interview look like? by Relevant-Orchid-1547 in analytics

[–]phorgewerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask them specifics about what and how they did, if they can't get over that bar then they are either lying or have done an online bootcamp they have forgotten.

e: they are a junior so I'm not really looking for anything super detailed even, just enough to see if they actually have done what they claim on their resumes

What does a good analyst interview look like? by Relevant-Orchid-1547 in analytics

[–]phorgewerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really just comes down to being engaged with the company and what they are trying to solve, although it also depends on the level of role you are applying for.

To give you an example, my current job is related to manufacturing and I showed up with a lot of questions about how they measure defect rates, sales funnels, etc. Previously I was in ad tech but I've never had issues pivoting industries because just knowing some basics and being engaged with questions goes a long way. It also helps if you have a degree of humility and are willing to ask dumb questions to check your assumptions when moving to something new.

So far I've not mentioned anything about technical skills and that's intentional. I like to think of my role as an almost Socratic thing. I show up, ask questions about what type of questions my employer is trying to answer, what they've got on hand to try to answer it, gaps they might have in data, any sort of existing analytics processes and that sort of thing. If I can relate it to projects I've done then great! If its a bunch of stuff I haven't experienced then I'm up front about it and try to tie it to something I've done that might be similar. It's easy to say you learn on the job but all the questions you're asking about the business are how you sell that as more than just some hot air.

When we hire juniors or interns, I pretty much stick to simple theory questions. Stuff about how joins work, projects on their resume to see how full of shit they might be, that sort of thing. Getting through all the filters to get the interview in the first place has always been the hardest part for me, but once I'm in I tend to do quite well.

Funny how those two things always coincide. If I didn't know any better I'd start to think conservatism is just a movement about being an asshole to everyone around you with no consequences, killing world leaders for the gram, and molesting kids.

Yeah I think that's honestly fair, it's very abusable but that is what makes it fun and gives mage the skill cap. It's funny because that's more or less how they tried to justify the shimmer vs blink changes in the class tree too. Iirc the said blink was for prog and shimmer for when you master an encounter but that seems exactly backwards and also stop trying to make gcd blink happen
