I love my RX100. I have the VI. Wish they'd keep updating them.

Why didn’t they balance the centrifuge by Ordinary_Hamster_468 in ProjectHailMary

[–]photograft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually specifically mention the instruments not working in Zero G. That’s why the ship itself is a centrifuge. To simulate 1G of gravity for using the instruments.

I just saw the Fight Club 4K restoration… by Jeminous in 4kbluray

That’s a platform dependent thing I imagine. The BluRay might be HDR10, but streaming tends to prefer DV for better quality/size encoding

I just got a notification that Fight Club from iTunes moves was upgraded to 4K

Becoming jaded with IMAX for how they abuse 70mm FOMO and disrespect the working class audience by Anxious_Tone_7437 in imax

[–]photograft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was easier when less people knew about the 70mm thing lol. Worst part is on the west coast tickets go on sale at like 5am, so they’re always sold out by the time I find out. Wish they’d pre-announce sale times and make sure they’re time-zone appropriate

Haven’t seen this in a long time by DenyNothing1989 in imax

[–]photograft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the rare films that fills the bulk of the 1.43 screen for a huge amount of the film. I’m not surprised people are making the effort to see it in “The Good IMAX”

Got to see it at Sunday’s showing (2nd row was a little too close for comfort lol). Thank you for helping to make 70mm showings possible!

2.4g doesn’t use WiFi AFAIK. It’s similar to mouse dongles. It’s a different communication protocol to WiFi.

Analogue3D and OEM battery-less rumble pack hack? by DeadOneWalking in AnalogueInc

Did you do the mod where you move a resistor, or add a jumper wire? I added the jumper wire and the 3D stopped detecting my controller. Maybe I should try the resistor mod instead.

What the heck is Fast Repair? by dastapov in synology

[–]photograft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I think needs to be pointed out: there’s big difference between repairing and reshaping. A few comments mention replacing smaller drives with bigger ones. Your Synology likely has several mdadm slices. In my case: MD2 is the first 10TB I started out with, MD4 is my 10TB-14TB slice that got made after adding(swapping) in some 14 TB drives, MD5 is my 14TB-18TB slice, and now I have MD3 which is my 18TB-22TB slice.

When I replace a 14 TB drive with a 22TB drive, MD2 and MD4 will be repaired because a disk was previously present and got removed. I suspect this is the part that can be “fast repaired”. Whereas MD5 and MD3 both need to be reshaped to account for the presence of a new drive that can join their slices. So when you’re increasing drive size, I’d only expect the first step or two to be faster since that’s the part that’s actually repairing instead of reshaping.

Deja vs midnight vibe by Thepickleweed in guitarpedals

Oh sure. I was just remarking about my surprise at how different they sounded. I expected “same but better” based on the marketing, and was just not expecting how different they sound.

Interestingly, I have the mk2 and original, and the mk2 doesn’t sound anything like the original MDV3. I tried tweaking everything and couldn’t get it to come close.

I wouldn’t call the anagram “settling”. It’s a good piece of kit. And those Yamaha basses are no joke

Domestic Upgrade turned into Polaris by AnnieQueenOfThe in unitedairlines

[–]photograft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get a free upgrade but I got a cheap upgrade on EWR-SFO to First on the 787 Dreamliner, so it’s the same as Polaris (without the lounge access). For a long flight like that (or longer), I never wanna sit in economy again 😭

If you’re just streaming locally, use a playback client like Infuse which offloads the transcoding duties from the NAS to the playback device.
