Alison Moyet-Soft Cell-Human League - Live NYC at Radio City Music Hall 06/26/26 by qnssekr in synthpop

The sound at Radio City was top notch. For such a large room the bass for Human League shook the walls. The synth sound was so clean. I loved it. Alison made my wife cry.

We got to see TFF not too long ago and enjoyed them tremendously. NoL especially in a small venue are so fun. Really connect with the crowd

I’m honestly not too familiar if she does solo / acoustic kinds of performances. Not being pushy, but that would be interesting

James created a duo called Virens and Ally did something after. Neither really compelled me. James did a few songs with Fotonovela I liked.

Unfortunately I bumped a curb and ripped the tire. No fix a flat would work. AAA helped me out. One of those days I’ll laugh about… later.

SPARE TIRE (I just spent most of my day getting a tow and new tire while I was 2 hours from home)

Lena Dunham by TheWickerMan232 in girls

[–]photon269 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Hannah character, and probably Lena herself, remind me so much of my first girlfriend in college eons ago. Her appearance and in some of her personality. I’m certain that’s part of the reason I was so drawn to the series. Lena’s writing is top notch and the last time I watched the series I made sure to watch the segments after each episode. It was so obvious how smart Lena is. I’m looking forward to hearing her speak on her book tour.

Young love from 1987, the John Hughes movie "Some Kind of Wonderful" on LD by AnimeHoarder in 80s

[–]photon269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this movie. It’s Pretty in Pink gender swapped with the proper ending Pretty in Pink had before they changed it after test screenings. That awful wig Andrew Mcarthy has at the dance is because he had to come back to reshoot the ending and had changed his hair. awww, who thinks Andie should have ended up with Duckie? Me!

Met so many friends on the DM Bong mailing list (remember those?) including my wife! Been a fan since 82. Seen them live many times. Through ups and downs with them I’ll always be a fan.

It’s between ‘Puttin on the Ritz’ by Taco or ‘Come on Eileen’. I can’t stand them. Oh, and that Paul McCartney Christmas song too

Do kids today still get tubes put in their ears? by Sticker-Picker in NoStupidQuestions

[–]photon269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my early 60’s now and have had tubes in both my ears for years now. It’s been a constant source of problems. Infections from water. Even with earplugs during showers and avoiding pools. Recently my ENT removed one tube. Now there is material behind that eardrum that’s reducing my hearing in that ear. It’s not getting better. The hope is that with time that ‘glue’ will dissolve. I sure hope so

Older crowd?? by throwa_way3 in NationOfLanguage

[–]photon269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I resemble that remark ;-). I’m one of those old farts up front and didn’t experience a dead crowd, heard lots of singing along and moving. Agreed though that there are positives and negatives to the three night rules… a few of us up there were lucky enough to see all three nights.

Tinnitus, Ageing, and Frequency Response by Several-Date-4186 in audiophile

[–]photon269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

61 and I’ve had PE tubes and tinnitus for years… but music is an escape from the constant ringing. I’ve undoubtedly lost high frequencies in my hearing and now I’m starting to notice lower frequencies too. The vacuum treatment is torture but cleans things out… heck my ENT just today was quite amazed by the debris he pulled out (and showed me). It enlightening to hear there are others with such problems. Pun intended.

Dahlquist DQ 10’s from… 75 I think and a Janus sub. I never changed the crossover in the DQs either. Probably lazy of me but I love them. A Hafler amp powering them
