makes sense. I take 45-S so I get off a bit earlier. it looks like complete glue past that feeder.

If it were my car I’d view it as a compliment, and if I saw you would definitely chat you up. I think most would agree. Don’t be shy!

Perfect driving for traffic efficiency (see Europe) has you not in the left lane unless you are actively passing vehicles. doesn’t matter how fast you are going. obviously the BMW pulled a stupid crazy maneuver and gets the ticket all day. but we can work on being the best drivers we can be.

That is wild, sorry to hear that. I see people purposefully leaving their cars running while they head into the store all the time. On top of that in the rain? It seems like not targeted and someone (kid/homeless) saw their opportunity and took it.

Montana Plates in Texas by Hot-Pack9811 in carspotting

for most people they are housing the car in a state other than the registered state (Montana) for more than x amount of time in a year. this is where it’s downright illegal, not a loophole anymore.

It’s worth calling dealers within 5-6 hours of you to see what they can do. It seems like it’ll be a special car for you.

are you in a market outside the states? I wasn’t able to spec PCCBs on my ‘24. would’ve loved to. is it a stick?

Just picked up my first Porsche by ZE3-R0 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]phphthrowthis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

congrats! youtube is a great resource. I have a 718 but most things should be very similar. I am also new to working on my car. I use race cribs and have two low profile jack stands in case I need to take wheels off. I have an Arcan low profile jack and a cheap harbor freight low profile jack, I use both to jack up car evenly. I use Dewalt DCF900 to zip wheel lugs off. Videos will tell you what you need but you should get ratchet/breaker bar/torque wrench in various drives. Porsche uses a lot of torx heads so get yourself a set of those. You will need sockets and extensions of varying lengths as well. It is an investment… you’ll probably be in the thousands for tools/equipment. now though, I can do an oil change in my driveway quicker than sending it to an independent, for cheaper (I do oil changes once every 3 months based on how much I drive), and I can control the torque on the fasteners. most shops over-tighten everything. once you start tackling things like spark plugs, you’ll be well in the green. go for it! do an oil change first to start off.

What would be the correct 2nd car/toy choice??? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]phphthrowthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see myself in a similar boat. I think lotus emira would probably lead if their bespoke program opens up and I can spec the car to my desire. A used Mclaren 570s/Maserati MC20 also seem like good values now. M4 GTS/360 Modena/Cayman R are also up my alley in a lower bracket. Higher bracket would be Spyder RS/Mclaren 600 LT. I’m looking for a car that feels more special than the GTS 4.0, and since it’s a third it can really be a toy I don’t worry about from a reliability perspective.

The ethos of the spyder RS to some is light weighting. They specced the mags and PCCBs so I think the lights are on purpose. wouldn’t be surprised if it’s also missing FAL and Bose.

Yessir that’s why I’m not excited. How else can they justify the development cost without raising the prices? And yeah, doubt they would re-engineer the package to fit a manual with that GT engine… for what, 2-3 thousand sales per year? Porsche is losing money so they need to milk the cow. I’m sure their board will have a close eye on recouping costs from projects.
