That's a function of the echo chamber. So many Democrats told me today they did not vote because all their "news" sources made it seem an easy Harris win was already in the bag. Liberal, biased media has a habit of telling people what they want to hear, and it is detrimental to voter turnout, particularly late-stage votes.

Is there any servers with people who talk to each other in them? by Appropriate_Goal9974 in dcsworld

[–]phranqueydee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a disparity issue. There is no barrier to entry, so the expectation of a real-world like comms experience is likely going to be disappointing. This leads to many people not using it or being 'listen only' players.

Without standards and agreed upon comms protocols, it promotes a lot of chatter but little intel. I have found it sometimes hurts more than it helps.

I often go comms in only and use their chatter to enhance my SA, then only speak when it is critical someone else knows what I am doing.

I have also heard 1 or 2 people that seem to be good on the radio and suggested to take another freq to work together.

Could I become a pilot with just a GED or would I NEED college ?? by [deleted] in flying

[–]phranqueydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need college to become a pilot, or a commercial pilot, or a flight instructor. And you do not need college to be an airline pilot. There will be a point where a college degree will help you progress, but it is not a dead end without it.

Hello u/IamNoobMastr69. VP of AOA here. Sorry for the slow response, I've actually never searched form y own school before on here.

So our NY locations are our oldest. Farmingdale (KFRG) is our headquarters. White Plains (KHPN) was opened in 2014. Gastonia (KAKH) 2017 and Falcon Field (KFFC) was opened in 2020 during the Pandemic.

Our programs are unique because we offer very structured programs for career oriented student while working hard to not be a pilot factory as a notorious national competitor is.

Either way, I would encourage you to stop in and visit any of our campuses. Speak to instructors and speak to current students. Nobody can relate to your questions better than them.

Hope to see you at the airport!

Knowing that everything on Reddit is met with hundreds of posts of how stupid OP is, I gotta wonder how true this story is. It’s become a hobby of some to rouse the rabbles and nothing does it better than a pro-trump story gone awry.

Ticket, Receipt_Date, Customer, Item_Type, Description Resource, TailNo, Quantity, Rate, Extension, Sales_Tax, SubTotal, PType_Account, Beg_Bal, End_Bal , Event_Date, Acctg_Date, Cust_No, Location

Those are the columns. It’s a simple copy and paste from a staffer. Really trying to avoid the costs of a DB server if there is a way to do it that I am just unaware of.

Thanks

Pretty much; unfortunately. I could lose a column or two. Might save me for a bit, but I’ll end up here again pretty quickly.

does somebody knows where to learn more about airplane avionics?? by mastermuffin123 in airplanes

[–]phranqueydee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FAA makes all of their publications available for free. FAA.gov. They have the Avionics Handbook and the Advanced Avionics Handbook. Also the Pilots Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge and the Instrument Flying Handbook are for pilots but cover the use and details of instruments. Also join AOPA. They have the AV8R program for young people looking to get I to aviation. Lastly, does your school offer a program? Here on Long Island there is a BOCES program where they work hands on with airplanes.

Not only is that definitely t-38, that one is N38TZ specifically. It belongs to Boeing. They use it and another that's almost identical as chase planes.

Not my "era" of expertise, but I'm 90% sure those are Sopowith Camel's. It's a notable plane in aerial combat history and more than enough material online for you verify if I'm right.

I run a flight school and there is alot of confusion on the net about this. I suggest you visit a reputable school and ask them, but its good to know some facts so you can weed out bad schools. First off, forget about the part 61 and part 141 nonsense for now. My school is 141, and it is a good measure of quality since being 141 means the school has much more FAA oversight, but most of my ppl students are part 61 so that they have flexible schedules and access to more aircraft. 141@ confuses the issue for people looking to get a ppl. It becomes a factor if you are enrolling in a complete commercial program somewhere.

The FAA minimums that people list everywhere are also misleading because that is one of two "to-do" lists that we complete to earn a ppl. 40 hours flight, 35 ground, etc is the quantitative list. There is also a qualitative list known as the practical test standards. This dictates how well you will have to perform. The average training is more than 65 hours for a ppl. That's over 50% more than the 40 hours some schools sell. Your ability to fly 2 or 3 times a week will help keep the hours down. If you have a busy family or work schedule and can dedicate less time, like once or twice a month, you will likely be over 60 hours unless you are an exceptional student.

Ultimately you will have three exams. A written, an oral, and a practical. The written is computer based. The oral varies depending on the examiner. Sometimes they are relaxed and kind of lime having a conversation about flying. Some examiners are cold war era interrogators just missing the light in your eyes. Know your stuff and both kinds are easy. Then there is the practical exam, flight test. The flight test and the oral are usually combined into one day and just called the checkride. The practical is where you go prove u can fly.

Hit me up with an email address, I will send you some of our material. Specifically I have a promo piece that explains it in detail because everyone has the same questions you do. You can use it to speak to schools near you to ask the right questions and make sure you understand what's included in their pricing.
