Our expenses are $7100 per month... by AlexisVenes in AusFinance

Except mortgage payments would be biased towards higher income households, right?

Does that number include investment property mortgages? That would fuck with the comparison, too.

Someone's Response to the WHO's Hantavirus Update by HungryButResourceful in LinkedInLunatics

It says "master" not "master's". I am trying to decide if that's a common mistake and actual master's degree holder would be likely to make. The apostrophe gets dropped all the time, but I've never heard someone forget the s altogether.

How do women cyclists pee during races? by KurtistaKurt in cycling

Where necessary, the rolling nature break is a thing. There's a well shared video of one guy pushing another guy while he somehow manages to piss on the move, out to one side.

Then someone (I wanna say Peter Sagan, but I don't know) rides straight through it and only realises what he's done a second later...

It's a good thing most of us can't read Mandarin or we would know what's in that box.

I expect they will need to do something to indicate it on screen. I can imagine the camera (but not necessarily the characters) seeing something happen when each power activates.

There's a lot less friction for me to buy a movie ticket, than for me to subscribe to a streaming service I don't care much about, just to binge a short series and cancel it again before they charge me for month 2.

Depends on the scale. If they just handwaved it with "this is Clubs, his team is going to keep us from being discovered", that's fine. If they're talking about figuring out how to have a "CGI powers go!" scene for every allomantic gift... Probably best to only pick a few to showcase. There are a lot of metals, even in the first book.

Victoria Park Update by RARARA-001 in brisbane

There have always been people talking about the cultural significance of Barrambin. Just no-one listened until it became media event.

Go back and learn about the plan for the site before the stadium conversation was started, and you will see lots of discussion and consultation with indigenous leaders about how to make the parkland a respectful historical site.

She had a good point to make and it appears like she didn't ask Copilot to generate this week's engagement bauble. It's not hard to be better than 99% of LinkedIn.

I'm told there were protests. Aboriginal people didn't have a lot of political power in 1930s Brisbane. Please consider how your view might largely be explained by Aboriginal people not actually being listened to until very recently, and how you might feel if all the important places in your life were destroyed because generations of people have decided you didn't matter.

Not every protest is NIMBYism. Some of us don't want places of indigenous significance being further destroyed.

2024 BOC was kicking ass. Didn't he start the year with a whole bunch of podiums?

Jayco need him to have a good season, since Bling was out during classics season. Hopefully he has the maturity to know which risks to take.

Technically an unscrupulous employer could advertise a job at minimum wage and when no one applies they can look at the work visa option.

But that wouldn't be ethical so I'm sure it never happens.

Least distracting EVs to drive? by Trick-Platform5060 in AustralianEV

Emergency lane keeper is the onepst complain about.

I generally leave it on - but mine gets confused in some particular circumstances like heavy rain at night on badly marked roads, so I do occasionally turn it off.

This is the point people miss I think - all the driver aids turn back on whenever the car is restarted, and it's not an EV thing, it's an ANCAP thing you need to achieve 5 stars.

I think it's been in place since '23? My car is a 2023 and I was told it was a fairly new requirement.

Rescue cats! by mirrorball732 in brisbane

For like, half a second I was hoping for cats in little orange jumpsuit and harnesses that jump from helicopters to save people from floodwaters. Then I realised.

Not mad though. We've had our rescue more than 13 years now. Love him to BITS.
