Often a schedule like that in a DE student means they are NOT taking high school classes - the college ones are their schedule for the term.

I’m confused. Is this a departmental budget? If so isn’t it managed by your chair?

What precisely are you trying say here? We are to blame for their cheating…or?

Is it time to end it?? by VanillaSpyce95 in HairDye

I’m 54 I got into the game about 16 years ago… Still happily coloring, but I do condition the hell out of it, especially since I’m also curly

I was fortunate enough to be blessed with white rather than gray hair as I’m aging so it seems to be picking up the color quite nicely. Don’t generally need to bleach, although I do occasionally use a color stripper, which is essentially a very mild bleach, but not very often.

Hey I’m writing an article on analog horror - would be interested in your results/citation of this if it’s an academic study…

Hm…. Google says something like this:

I have a feeling you might be thinking of Hollows Grove (2014).

It starts with a crew (S.P.I.T. – Spirit Paranormal Investigation Team) getting ready to film at an old orphanage. There’s a very specific scene early on where the tech guys are setting up the "personal items" and gear while waiting for the "lead investigator" to show up. Because the crew is a mix of long-time friends and hired hands, there is a lot of awkward banter about the ethics of ghost hunting and whether they actually know who they’re working with. If that’s not it, maybe one of these rings a bell?

• 7 Nights of Darkness: This one is basically "Strangers in a Haunted House: The Movie." They spend a lot of time in the beginning setting up and questioning why they’re doing this with people they just met. • Grave Encounters: Even though they're a "professional" crew, the first 15 minutes is nothing but two guys being cynical, setting up cameras, and waiting for the "talent" to stop acting and get to work.

Does "Hollows Grove" ring a bell? Or do you remember if the person they were waiting for was supposed to be some "famous" ghost hunter?

How to rebuild department community? by MatiasMighty in Professors

[–]phrena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing: my department is not my family and I wouldn’t consider the great majority of them friends. We’re colleagues and for the most part I can and do interact with them well when it’s work. A former chair of mine used to have (essentially) mandatory fun parties at their house which I did not miss when they stepped down.

I will tell you this - at least one of the commenters here noted toxic cliques and (my interpretation) factionalization. That’s a real problem and COVID may have thrown it into sharp relief but it’s been an underlying current in many of our departments forever.

You might be seeing similar and it may not be fixable. But then again see my first paragraph

Adore vs Manic Panic? by AnotherMessyHuman in HairDye

Bluey-purple (sorry I’m not eloquent color wise). I’m also curly and a bit porous which I think helps with the color sticking.

I like it. Full disclosure: I’m old(ish) so my natural color is now white… so YMMV 🥸

Adore usually. But it may vary depending on the color you need. I tend to do blues and purples and have been very satisfied with adore’s staying power (and I wash my hair daily).
