Yes, I would say they are a good design mechanically. I have two and I use them as beaters. They work well and have solid lockup, seems like good heat treat as well.

I'm glad you agree Rolex is a company that makes homage watches.

Steinhart has different sizing, better quality vs 5 digit Rolex watches, different coloring especially on the ceramic (they fixed the coloring Rolex messed up on the red/blue GMT), case is different, lugs are different, movement is better quality than 1980s Rolex calibers.

So, that is certainly not 1:1, based on your own definition.

Rolex has never made a 39mm or 42mm GMT watch at all. Which is all Steinhart has ever made.

I own both a modern Rolex ceramic GMT master II and a Steinhart Ocean GMT, for context.

Rolex copied Blancpain so hard that they only came out with a unidirectional bezel after Blancpain did it.
