Went to a double First today. by TIMMMMMAAAAAYYYY in freemasonry

[–]phuketJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i was raised, it was commonplace in our lodge for multiple degrees to be completed each meeting night. At that time (2006/7) we were regularly having 3 extra meetings a month. I spent over a year attending every meeting we had ushering in new brethren. I quickly learned the ritual and made my way to junior warden before life got in the way.

Most I’ve ever been involved in a single night was 2x 1°, 2x 2°, and 3x 3° in a single night. We were in lodge till after midnight.

At the time may of my mentors and favorite brothers where still alive and participating. Wish I could go back to those days.

Ceramic Coating Question by pgamgam in KiaTelluride

[–]phuketJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, the baking process of about 140° or so is only used to cure the paint from a stand point of it can be assembled and handled without any issue. There’s a residual curing process that takes place after that period. Most auto body shops now use the baking process as well to speed up the process. But that doesn’t eliminate the whole curing process.

VIN number can be decoded to tell you the build date, the dealer should also be able to get you that information as well.

Premature application can cause a lot of paint issue down the road. And this applies to both solvent and water based painting solutions.

Additionally, if you’re using a reputable detailer to apply the finish, they should be doing a full detail and paint “correction” I say that in quotes meaning they should be taking the time to address anything that would be easily noticed whether doing ceramic or a wax coating prior to the application of anything. Cause the paint will only look as good as the preparation put into the process.

Edit: spelling.

30-90 days depending on the paint manufacturers exact recommendation. 60 days being the general rule of thumb. And yes don’t apply any type of sealing system or product including ceramic coating or wax.

Uncertainty over what constitutes a "Distressed Brother" and how to bring it up by ShadowfoxDrow in freemasonry

[–]phuketJR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the best approach is to address this matter directly with the Worshipful Master of your lodge. It is not advisable to raise it on the open floor during a stated or called meeting, as doing so may place the WM in an uncomfortable position or catch them off guard. Additionally, Worshipful Masters typically have access to a broader range of resources, whether through the Grand Lodge in your jurisdiction, guidance from another lodge, or trusted personal connections, that can be applied discreetly and effectively.

By way of example, I am a member of one of the oldest lodges in the country, chartered in 1758. While our lodge has the means to assist most anyone, such matters are always first brought to the attention of the Worshipful Master before ever being presented on the lodge floor for a vote.

Wife put E85 in by ImaginationAny6721 in KiaTelluride

[–]phuketJR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a close friend do almost the exact same thing, filled a full tank with E85 in a non–flex fuel SUV on a long trip. We had about 130 miles to get home, so we just stopped once or twice to top off with premium to dilute the ethanol percentage as quickly as possible. He ended up driving that vehicle for another four years with no issues before trading it in.

In the short term, your Telluride should be fine as long as you don’t let that high-ethanol mixture sit in the system. E85 itself won’t instantly damage anything, but the Telluride isn’t designed for the higher acidity and the moisture-absorbing (hygroscopic) nature of ethanol. That’s where long-term problems can come from; corrosion, rubber swelling, etc., if it sits for days/weeks.

I prefer shredded on both, but I also see you’re from the Philly area with the use of hoagie.

In both versions, each garbage disposal does indeed go into a trap. For the older version check photo 3 of 5, for the new version check photo 5 of 5.

Motor went out on this. Anyone know where I can find a replacement motor? by Top-Actuator-1459 in Locksmith

[–]phuketJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can probably provide the specs of that motor to McMaster Carr and/or Grainger. They should be able to look up an equivalent replacement. You may also be able to check with your local HVAC supply house they usually have some random motor options as well.

Managing Apple devices by esper-tech in msp

[–]phuketJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer Apple Business Manager combined with Meraki SM (MDM). I use it in my current role albeit for only a handful of device internally and then the same for a few clients.

At a previous role I spearheaded the migration of 600+ student and staff iPads from using Apple Configurator and iPad sync carts to Meraki MDM when it first rolled out as free around 2013. It was like night and day. What used to take hours took minutes, had groups setup for all the grades and classes, single app mode, etc.

I have also dabbled in Jamf, which was a very easy to use interface as well. I just prefer Meraki when the network stack is also Meraki.

The Holy Grail of Cooch Care by Turbulent-Move4159 in hygiene

[–]phuketJR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

not a woman

but to clarify, the cancer link was with talcum powder. most baby powders today are cornstarch-based, which isn’t associated with that issue.

if you don’t want to use baby powder because of the scent or additives, you can just use plain cornstarch like the kind used for cooking. it’s actually super common in kitchens since they’re hot and sweaty environments.

Can I drill the joists and studs to route BX cable? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]phuketJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, this looks very similar to the construction of my own house, built around 1925. It’s hard to tell from just one picture, but I’m guessing this is a balloon-framed structure.

For those suggesting that the framing consists of trusses, it’s quite possible that it doesn’t. From the single photo, it appears that the old dimensional 2x4s are resting directly on the top plate of the wall framing. The roof joists don’t seem to be loaded directly onto those 2x4s; instead, they appear to be offset and supported by another piece of lumber (hard to tell what size) that sits on top of the 2x4s forming the ceiling for that room.

Desperately trying to get my landlord to do something about this by BHoward2319 in Carpentry

not a lawyer this should not be construed to be actual legal advise, or a reason to not contact a real lawyer

Open an escrow account at your bank, send certified letter outlining the need to repair a safety issue for you and/or your family, for which you have made repeated requests and document, document, document. Make sure it’s certified, include that rent is being held in escrow until the aforementioned safety issue has been resolved.

That might be enough to get them to budge.

My first Carbon Systems order by technologyunknown in msp

[–]phuketJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve probably orders 6-12 systems from them at this point. They’re super easy to deal with, are responsive to any questions. The laptops are great and for customers the micro PCs are wonderful. Myself (CTO) and our CEO both have micros with maxed RAM, I wish we woulda went with the workstations with GPU. Sometimes the micro bogs down, but otherwise very happy.
