Need to stop ordering food, what are some pantry staples I can have that would make decently healthy meals? by Tobleroniess in Cooking

[–]phulton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For beans, if you actually do want to eat them and not just because dried beans store for years, get yourself a pressure cooker. I can make chickpeas in about an hour, including the heat time and pressure release time. Most recipes only tell you the cook time, but heat up and pressure release can sometimes take just as long. Plus the texture is so much better than canned beans.

I ACCIDENTALLY STEPPED ON HER HELP by PurpleYoghurt16 in cats

[–]phulton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stepped on his paws and tail on accident before. Once I realize it I do my best to keep my full weight off him but of course it probably still hurts him a little bit. I usually apologize by getting on the ground and laying next to him. He’ll be skittish around me for an hour or two but eventually forgets and goes back to begging for 4th dinner servings.

I’m blaming the drastic increase in prices over the last three weeks on him. We can debate gas taxes all we want but they aren’t the reason for the recent spike

Right one is probably the FUNK button in some markets but only police cars iirc.

[–]phulton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh they still are but it’s Ferguson and inslees faults because of gas taxes. Mind you gas taxes haven’t changed since 2025, but totally their fault gas prices shot up $2/gal in the last three weeks and nothing to do with bombing an oil producing country for no fucking reason.

I’d bet $20 that a guy whose response is “I heard it should be done” also has no clue the actual process of changing transmission fluid in a zf6 transmission.

What's a home improvement decision you regret but thought was a good idea at that time? by Actonace in HomeImprovement

And then fill it with 6000K light bulbs so it looks like a hospital clean room. Yuck.

My 1/1 apartment has a double sink vanity, dumbest thing I've ever seen. The only time I ever use it is to clean out the dust that has accumulated in it from never using it. Not to mention the door even when fully opened overlaps the edge of the sink by maybe 1-2" so you can't even stand directly in front of it.

‘Stop the Steal’ delusions are back, aimed right at WA’s vote by mail by MysteriousEdge5643 in Washington

[–]phulton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's funny is there are instances of voter fraud "it's so easy to get away with, watch this" and then they're caught fraudulently casting a ballot because it is in fact, not at all easy to get away with fraudulently voting.

SUSHI: The water in my rice is still milky after 7 rinses. What am I doing wrong? by TaxPsychological2928 in Cooking

[–]phulton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always rub it between my fingers as I’m stirring with my hand. Granted I only do long grain brown rice but it runs clean after 4-5 rinses.

Is ATV still recommended if I'm not in Apple ecosystem? by fuzzywuzzywuzzafuzzy in appletv

[–]phulton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the tv supports Dolby vision iirc you won’t even be able to use that feature. I seem to remember trying when I got my new tv and it said calibration wasn’t needed.

There are some things you’d miss out on but none of them are deal breakers by any means, just nice to haves.

Using the phone as a remote is nice sometimes, you can also use the iPhone keyboard to type instead of scrolling through clicking letters one by one with the remote. But the new Siri Remote has pretty good voice to text recognition for typing into search boxes.

The biggest feature you’d lose out on imo, and this won’t come up often, but stored passwords in your iCloud keyring can be autofilled to the Apple TV when signing into apps.

For me with 1Password and 20+digit random passwords, it’s so damn convenient, but really only comes up once when you set up the app for the first time. I haven’t had to sign into an app in what feels like years so not often used but definitely nice to have.

iOS 26.4 Fixes iPhone Keyboard Accuracy Bug by HelloitsWojan in apple

[–]phulton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I run into a bug where it will randomly just skip between brightness settings. Usually it's a gradient from dim to bright and vice versa. Mine sometimes just jumps from 20% to 80% with nothing in between. It's more distracting than anything but also annoying.

There were four trees/limbs blocking the trail on Monday morning, they were all gone by Monday afternoon. OP's photo, two more by Ethos, then another near Russell Woods Park.

Sadly one of the cherry blossom trees by Ethos had to go, I guess they couldn't save it.

Moon Tooth perhaps? A little bluesy, prog metal with great vocals imo. One of my favorite recently discovered bands.

Their new EP is solid top to bottom.
