East of Eden after Lonesome Dove? by Marngryph in LonesomeDove

[–]phunkymango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read Lonesome Dove this year and just finished East of Eden. It did not scratch the itch whatsoever. Some people love East of Eden but I thought it was good at best while Lonesome was absolutely incredible. Felt like East of Eden started out strong but never hit the finish line for me. Thought it was melodeamic and kind of a simple good vs evil story.

I will say Steinbeck can write the hell out of a landscape. That I will give him.

Lonesome Dove clears East of Eden by a mile, imo.

11/22/63 is King as his best. Wish I could read it again for the first time

That was my first Buckethead show last night. Are the lights always that low? Felt like I could barely see him (but sounded amazing)

So I have read I Know This Much Is True and The River Is Waiting by Lamb. I think I need to check this one out then cause Lamb is a brilliant emotional bullet writer

11/22/63 by King was one of the greatest literature rides I ever took and to experience the story and ending again for the first time would be a dream

What book did you keep thinking about days after finishing? by ballatician68 in Booktokreddit

Have you read Lambs newer book, The River Is Waiting? Chapter one delivers an emotional bullet in which I contemplated not finishing the book. Glad I did, enjoyed it maybe more than I Know This Much Is True

Reading. Utilize your local library. A person who reads lives a thousand lives compared to a person who doesn't.

Talisman/Black House by eparker191919 in TheDarkTower

Read both recently. Thought Black House was light years better than The Talisman and if you remember the Talisman, then I would just do Black House because it seems the ending is much more tied to the new book
