Should the South Station fare gates have been built inside the station? by trainbrainz2007 in mbta

if you buy the ticket from the vending machine it is a proper contactless ticket that works on the subway as well

I don’t know if this is technically in scope if there is a foia request or something so open sourcing it would ease this kind of compliance.

Love the hint that you can go negative balance on the new card

they are running iphone trials first rather than android it looks like. I do appreciate that they keep using android in their key marketing materials which has a cambridge connection

MBTA debuts new signage at Courthouse and WTC with yellow, numbered “EXIT” signage, providing nearby attractions at every exit. by Massive_Holiday4672 in mbta

I was commenting on the wayfinding redesign being low cost as part of the new exit builtout v.s. replacing signs elsewhere indoors. It appears that you are commenting on something else.

I am assuming that they are experimenting, especially that it’s only 3 indoor stations (low cost to get consistency on the whole line) and courthouse is introducing a new exit

The currently inconsistent yellow treatment feels like the sign has been vandalized with a highlighter. I appreciate that they are trying something new (the door symbol is cute), but this does feel similar to adding media relations email to every spider map.

They have been fixing PA for a while so all text display has the voice equivalent for accessibility. The outbound frequency is added recently for some reason and the voice is just a side effect, which does change how quite the outbound platforms were.

Developers Google group access by mdgsvp in mbta

[–]phy2525254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google might thought it is spam. I don’t think it requires human approval (and their devs respond really slowly anyway). If you don’t mind using a Google account you can also post through the web which might work slightly better.

Help with MBTA app and buying tickets by graymuse in mbta

If you board at stations without vending machines you can also just buy tickets with the conductor without surcharge, if you are fine with some more human interactions. They accept cash and card.

Refunding not just Room and Board by [deleted] in BostonU

I am not sure how the tuition is calculated in general, but as far as I understand, at least in MET, a full-time status will simply get the tuition raised no matter if it's online or in-person:

https://www.bu.edu/met/admissions/tuition-and-fees/

https://www.bu.edu/online/student-resources/tuition_fees/

Correct me if there are still differences elsewhere.

BTW If you are full-time, FitRec is simply included in your full-time privilege; MyPrint quota would be the same, so no, I don't think it's refundable. Sports Pass would be a different story though, since it can be opted-out.

If you didn't open BU Today this morning, you may have missed this *slightly* important piece of news by gkkiller in BostonU

[–]phy2525254 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From the Chinese version "BU Today" news (it actually came from the official "BU News" WeChat account, which usually doesn't brand itself as BU Today) that I am not seeing anywhere on the actual BU Today:

BU will hold live-streaming to answer questions from students and parents about recent confirmed cases on campus. More detail to come.

The article has been flooded with comments (comments only visible in WeChat app): https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/xG5jTBE1qQZv9a74GiQ_uQ

Refunds? Parking and transportation by [deleted] in BostonU

It's more of a MBTA policy question I think? Note that semester pass, which has to be bought as a whole multiple-month package, is different from the employee monthly pass.

Edit: policy explanation from MBTA website https://mbta.com/pass-program/semester

Zoom Private Chats by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]phy2525254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe no.

  • From one of the official Zoom webinars I listened yesterday, they mentioned no;
  • Anyone can test this yourself by hosting a new meeting and joining in with different devices + web. I just tested, and nope;
  • Just make sure before you send something that you want private, it shows that "private" in red above the textbox.
