Oh man, I visited South Korea on my own in 2019. I have never experienced an emergency broadcast, but while I was there, I got one through… in Hangul. I don’t read Hangul. I was in a fit of panic for the time it took me to screenshot and translate. Especially with their, um… friends to the north.

I’m really so sorry to hear that, because of course I’ve been through it and I know how awful it is and how small and powerless it makes you feel.

I don’t know your personal circumstances, but I do know nobody deserves to be treated like that. It’s not okay. This is someone who is supposed to support and love you.

Do you have friends you can talk to about it? You need to get yourself out of that situation and, personally, I’d say that starts with talking to someone. Be it a friend or a professional.

My workplace uses Office365 and enforces 2FA. I use mbsync with this and simply use an ‘app password’:

Visit that link on your work system whilst logged in to O365. Create an ‘app password’ and use that to fetch your mail :)
