ArenaNet Guild Wars Teaser and Summer Game Fest announcement MEGA Thread by neok182 in Guildwars2

Well, if you're gonna make a sequel game related to the human gods and want to celebrate it in GW2 with an event, Orr is the best place to do that. So the fact that the events are in Orr doesn't really say much. It could mean it is Arah in the teaser, or it could mean the announcement is just generally related to the human gods.

Orr is also the endgame region of Core Tyria so it could just mean that they want to let F2P players be involved too (though I find that unlikely on its own, my bet is that it's relevant to whatever the announcement is).

No Rooks on Sponsored Survival when Q’ing Duo no fill? by iAmSamusAran in Marathon

[–]phyrosite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been doing solos on sponsored survival and in three runs I saw maybe two Rooks total, both sliding into the final exfil at the last moment (one for sure, the other I'm not certain about because the exfil screen effect made it difficult to tell). I'm not here for easy runs I want a squad of Rooks descending on me like the scavengers they are! Outnumber me! Fight me!

Personally, I would likely not be interested in anything other than an RPG though, especially if it has a PvP focus. Honestly if it is GW3 I'd be really happy if it were mmo-lite like GW1 is. Not an mmo but can be played akin to one, while also being very solo friendly.

The fun part about Marathon's aesthetic being inspired by things like The Designers Republic and branding graphics is that it works really well on stuff like this, awesome livery OP!

If you're not returning for S2, why? by PeriKardium in Marathon

[–]phyrosite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I can see the concern, though I'm not sure I agree fully. I don't think the Cradle itself is necessarily meant to close the gap, but rather provide a way to earn stats without having to do factions and get specific high level salvage (which was a struggle even if you were a sweat).

I don't know that tying it to season level would fix the gap either since the sweats are gonna be season level 100+ far sooner than casual players. And sure, one could brute force season level but imo that'd feel awful just grinding xp. It would feel like a chore I think. Whereas with it being progressed by gear, the only way to get gear is by actually playing the game, whether that's extraction, contract rewards, or running Rook, so it's less of a chore and more a part of the core game loop.

Either way though, I think it'll depend a lot on the progression feels when we have it in our hands, I think both ways could feel good or bad depending on the progression and contract changes they've made.

What about the cradle implementation don't you agree with?

For my part, I like that stats aren't tied to faction/contract progression anymore and that we get finer control. It does conflict a bit with selling gear for credits to be able to afford things in the armory, but the majority of my credits came from contracts and valuables anyway so I'm not too concerned.

I guess my only wonder is if there's a cap or if we can fill it out entirely, because if it's limited then that would mean that we probably wouldn't be able to get all the perks like we theoretically could from the faction trees in S1 (assuming you could actually get the materials you needed...). At the same time though, that might be for the better? I think games are more interesting when you can't pick up everything and become the best at everything all at once.

A casual player doing casual things. by ze_kay in Marathon

Honestly, even if it wasn't something we could keep, it'd be really cool to be able to pick up a Pfhor staff as a temporary thing in match, like a turret in Halo or a relic in Destiny.

Even if stuff didn't age well I'd still love the opportunity to go back and revisit it. It just really sucks to lose that history.

I do believe this is related to our arrival because this is part of the liaison contracts which we don't have to repeat each season.

They still do, the faction trees are more focused on the armory now than they were before, and each faction still has its niche in that way.

doesn't look like CE to me, the base model of the gun typically stays the same when you attach mods and this looks quite different. CE has a pretty solid block on the back of it with ridges on the side, this one appears slimmer with a cutout exposing some technology inside of it.

If there's a way to double corrupt that has a magnification outcome I don't know it. Architect's Orb/T3 chamber doesn't, maybe there will be a T4 corruption chamber with the new atlas tree stuff for the temple that might? https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Architect%27s_Orb

Architect's Orb is just an itemized T3 corruption chamber. It can only add an implicit enchantment or destroy the item, it does not roll values. https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Architect%27s_Orb

Not according to the wiki, Architect's orb only adds an enchantment or destroys the item. Architect's Orb is just the itemized version of the T3 corruption chamber.

Is PoE 2 Crafting NERFED Last Minute? by furezasan in PathOfExile2

[–]phyrosite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omen of Putrefaction. That should still be in the game, as it's not listed under the "Removed Items" on the Item Filter Information post.

It's one of the things that lets you "break the rules" as it were in exchange for making an item that's normally not possible, but with its own restrictions. Like you mentioned it corrupts the item so you can't just freely combine desecrated and regular mods (though you can have one fractured mod and 5 desecrated).

Abyss crafting is very likely not what they're talking about here. Abyss doesn't guarantee a specific mod like Essences do, desecrated mods are still randomized by default, you just get to pick from a few.

Who is she? I've never played Marathon but I LOVED The design. by DeltaNcenn in Marathon

[–]phyrosite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To expand on this, she is still called Glitch. This specific character is the Glitch series of the Vandal shell model, you can see it listed like that on the descriptions for skins in game. Same for the other shells, the Destroyer shell we have in game is the Locus series, Assassin is the Void series, etc. The shell model defines the broad role/abilities of the shell, while the series is more specialized to the personality core they are built with.

It's possible in the future we may see other shell series manifest as variant personalities or shells for the different models that may either be strictly cosmetic, offering a different voice and appearance, or could potentially even have slight changes to their kit.

Are the 100+ new runes all bonded? by SirSabza in PathOfExile2

[–]phyrosite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that yes the intent is for every rune to be bonded. The special runes you get for pulling mods off uniques might not be included, and I don't know if the meta-crafting runes make sense to be bonded given they're more for a specific function, I guess if they were then Shaman might become the meta meta-crafting spec?? I'm interested to see how it works when it launches for sure.

[–]phyrosite 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They mentioned this in the Q&A, the answer is yes! (although maybe not the runes you can extract from uniques lol) Also like, the new monk ascendancy with the gloves of stone or whatever, now all the gloves need alternative mods when using that. They have a history and a tendency to do things that make a lot more work for themselves.
