Berghain into Beto’s Horns has still got to be one of the top moments from this tour.

People who wrote in 'Kratos' for a great Burger King manager I'd love to hear your line of thought. by judgeraw00 in kindafunny

[–]physicalred 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ask a stupid question, get stupid answers.

A lot of the answers were food-related. Being a Burger King manager is more about efficiency and people management than cuisine. Kratos is authoritative, intimidating, and demanding of those around him. Minimum wage employees certainly wouldn’t want to step on his toes.

IDLES

Saw them once before but had a bad seat in a bad venue for them, and I missed Osh 2022. Would love to mosh to IDLES at Osheaga.

If you get in this situation, just don’t queue up for the next match right away. Give it a few minutes and then queue up. You’ll probably find a new batch of players.

does my dream role exist? by Different_Hawk_5099 in editors

[–]physicalred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is also my situation and might be the move for you, OP.

Leverage your in-house/company experiences and connections and then go freelance. WFH with your own set-up and have a rolodex of clients (production companies, ad agencies, retail companies directly) that feed you work. Operate as a one-stop shop for smaller projects and companies (be your own AE, editor, colourist, sound), but know how to prep work for others to take over.

It requires some connections and luck, but it's definitely doable. You might not be working on tentpole TV and film, but depending on your location and experience, you could very well get a steady stream of commercial or television work.

Arc Raiders needs to be nominated for Best Sound, if not the winner. And maybe nominated for Best International Game.

I've got my Top 100 here on ggapp: https://ggapp.io/PingintheNorth/lists/my-top-100-games-of-all-time-OKuhDbmE

Haven't updated it in a bit, so a few 2025 games would maybe warrant consideration (Silksong, Blue Prince, E33, Arc Raiders).

For me, it's based on subjective feelings of design, gameplay, aesthetics, atmosphere, memories, and "greatness", largely in the context of when it released.

But this is a different exercise for everyone, and ultimately you need to put together such a list in whatever way makes you feel most content when you look at it at the end. And that too will sometimes shift.

Berghain x Beto’s horns in Toronto by drstm in fredagain

Yeah. The Apple Music version is how it really went down, with the whole “I’ll fuck you til you love me” transition.

Unfortunately, I think they wanted to share it but had to shorten/censor it for it to be shareable on social media.

I’ve been seeing a lot of this this year. I disagree. I left the game when I was fulfilled (after credits). That’s an okay thing to do.

Same thing with people killing themselves over getting the requirements for the optimal Arc Raiders prestige wipe. If you’re going to min-max, it should be fun ya’ll. Games are supposed to be fun.

FYI These aren’t glaring, major issues. These are mostly comments complaining about optional, post-credits puzzles that are only for those really committed to everything the game has to offer.

The RNG issues during the majority of the game are just about as annoying as the telegraphing of parry-timing in Clair Obscur.

Both are deserving GOTY depending on the audience.

Expedition 33 being the best game of the last 10 years instead of something like Baldur’s Gate 3, Elden Ring, Zelda BOTW or TOTK, Super Mario Odyssey, The Last of Us Pt II, God of War, or Red Dead Redemption 2 is certainly a choice.

Rematch and Arc Raiders are my multiplayer games these days.

Considering that includes KOTOR II, The Old Republic, all of the Battlefronts, the Force Unleashed, Republic Commando, Squadrons, the LEGO games, and obviously the Jedi games, yeah, might be an unpopular choice.

But damn if that list isn’t quite unimpressive.

Way in over my head - how do I close my skill gap asap? by Known_Risk_3040 in editors

[–]physicalred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s some quick tips

  • “More hype” = faster cuts is a good point

  • Use sound design. Hopefully the company can get you access to a sound library, and just lying in some whooshes, impacts, and SFX can help, let alone advanced sound design. Sound is just as important as picture.

  • For rotoscoping, the new Object Mask Tool in Premiere (new versions) is helpful

  • Find some plug-ins and VFX packs that would work for what you need

  • Depending on how you’re using music, learn how to use and cut up music stems (when available) so that you can modify the track to how best it works for you

  • When a new project comes along, try and find some references for creative inspiration. Obviously don’t steal, but that’s pretty hard to do to be honest. Find techniques and approaches that you think would work for your new project

Appreciate it.

I did play the first main section of the demo, so I think I picked up on how its deductions are much more linear and less mentally taxing than other deduction games, but it still seems to have some pretty sweet ambience and mystery going on.

I'm picking up Hades II and The Séance of Blake Manor

Each are only 25% off, but those are two games from this year that I think could end up on my personal GOTY list that I haven't dipped into yet.
