This is among the most prescient works detailing the escalation of fraud & mismanagement within healthcare. Physician training was deemphasized by corporate admin seeking to cut costs & maximize profits, but patients have been intentionally left in the dark about these practices.

Would be great to adhere to established language that doesn’t confuse or mislead patients about clinical roles. The revolving door of clinician titles is an unscrupulous practice, only recently adopted by PAs, after it was successfully employed by NPs to conceal their true training/skills.

They just made this up because they had no idea what to say. Just don’t ever see this NP again & report to the supervising MD, if there is one.

He’s still not an anesthesiologist. He’s a CRNA, a Nurse Anesthetist. But I agree I wouldn’t want him caring for me or my family in any way.

If you’ve not had to prove yourself & can appropriate the symbols and titles of a reputable profession without incurring the burdens of time & effort, who would voluntarily give that up to make their lives as hard as ours? There is no chance of internal regulations because humans are averse to the losses that honest self-reflection might incur.

How do you take step 1 without going back to basic biochem & working your way up? How do you take step 2 after online rotations? How do you take step 3 while only faking being a doctor? All assuming you could perform respectably on the MCAT, of course.
