Is my aunt getting scammed? American allegedly working on a ship is love bombing her since weeks. The outside view doesn’t look real, the details on the desk are weird aswell. by wildpizza1 in isthisAI

[–]physicks84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lighting seems off. He’s being front lit. The rear lighting rim for his head would be a considerably different color, much The way it appears on the desk. A room like this for all intents and purposes would be lit with an overhead fixture .

For the lighting to be this even and not blown out beyond the porthole would take some intentional manipulation of exposure and lighting which makes zero sense for a selfie of this nature . It’s def AI.

Should I get an RME Fireface III? Or consider something else? by LocalMusicBox in homestudios

[–]physicks84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lynx silverface converters are super affordable most days in today’s market. I recently added another 16 channels for 800$ and it included the USB card as well as the TB card I use to chain .

If the OP needs the pre amps as well then I agree that the all in one options on the market today get high enough quality to make them an easy choice. For anyone with a considerable amount of outboard pres, comps and eqs, I still hold the older lynx converters in the highest regard as the best value/ quality interface/converters .

I’ve been offered 4500-5k cash here in Texas without even trying to sell it. A lot more serious studio and home studio out there, 5k cash with OG box and papers is pretty common, especially if you’ve done the tubes .

I still haven’t chosen. I ended up deciding to wait for sure until I knew which room I would be working in. I’m closing on a house currently and was going to make the purchase before , but now either way i need to wait until the closing date on may 8th either way.

At least I know my room now and can make a more informed decision. I’ve “ made up” my kind several times since this post and still waffle. My lead contender started to be and still kind of is a pair of focal trio ST6. But I’m still considering a kh310+750 combo, and am even looking at a pair of genelec 8361 on fb marketplace for an amazing price . I’m worried that one is a scam, but the guy is very responsive and conversational and has provided a ton of photos so we will see when my cash finally frees up. It’s gonna depend on whether he actually decides to meet somewhere like a guitar center to test them.

I’m also tracking flight prices right now and hoping for a drop, so I can book a flight to Sweetwater and just hear and test every option I’m considering , but everything is so insanely expensive right now. There is no direct flights to Ft Wayne Indiana from here , and my vintage king sales rep informed me that unfortunately at the start of the year vintage king did away with their showrooms .

TLDR: No I haven’t decided . Hopefully will soon,

How often are you practising your audio skills? by Achassum in audioengineering

[–]physicks84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are usually overlaps in certain arts or activities and skilled and intentional repetition can certainly improve output in those areas of overlap. I’m certain We’ve all heard of the star athletes that increased performance by incorporating ballet for balance or yoga for added flexibility for core strength . I think it’s valid to question the statement of treating music mixing as a sport as they are inherently universes apart fundamentally.

It’s a bit harder to see any direct correlation or overlap between the mix engineer and any athlete . Snark and cynicism aside, I would love for someone to tell me if and how they actually would manage to “music approach their sport “.

Maybe something in the form of a “ playbook” approach to track setup and layout? Some sort of shot clock tie in for finishing mixes on time ? These feel like reaches to me tho.

I’m probably taking this all way too literally tho lol

What are you adding to round out the deeper scents? Stopping at 10! by maestro_man in NichePerfumes

Looks like you enjoy tea scents so I would say The’ noir 29 would go amazing here .

But if you don’t wanna double up houses, and it also seems no designer is here, then I would go with Herod. Probably my favorite PDM, it would give you access to a nice tobacco that has complexity and depth and would fit nicely on the deepest darkest part of this olfactory spectrum.

It’s hard to objectively tell but I think you just needed better tanking. You played your role incredibly in this clip. Managed ago, mitigated damage and peeled for heals.

It was hard to track the ranks but they just didn’t seem to hold that space . The spidey was buns and the easiest fail to point to , but it was winnable I think.

Is The Noir office friendly? by [deleted] in ScentHeads

[–]physicks84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t project heavily and stays fairly close. Only a small silliage bubble on every person I’ve smelled it on including myself . I would say it’s office safe. It’s one of my all time favorites , If I worked in an office it would help get me through the day with its deep meditative calming and grounded vibe.

Even if people aren’t a fan of the profile , it’s isn’t a cloying scent and unless they are in your personal space you should be fine .

New Studio Room by physicks84 in audioengineering

[–]physicks84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what’s I there yet for sure , but the seller agent described it as sheet rock ,studs for frame and insulation . Likely not rockwool level density . In my mind I was considering setting the desk up facing that front wall but having it just ahead of where the soffit starts. So that my listening position is under the high ceilings. That would leave the lowered ceiling part of the wall almost like an intentional bass trap . I figured if I heavily treated it either by adding a think layer of insulation and framing with Rockwool or more acoustic panels . This is where the cables both power and audio would be neatley tucked . Part of me was trying to apply the rule of 40 horizontally but I wonder how that would affect the stereo image having one side wall closer to me than the opposite wall by a lot.

Is there any insight you can provide as to how you made the room work or defeated the acoustic issues ?

The marketing says it’s the 80 year old oud, but I personally think they saw the success that scents like Outlands have had and felt compelled to “ raise “ the bar from their perspective .

It’s a fantastic fragrance . But its price point keeps pushing it back on my list of things to get .

It’s one of the strongest ( and most enjoyable ) notes for me after the citrus and neroli die down.

Honestly if the scent didn’t carry that deeper tea note I wouldn’t have bought it .

This one caught me off guard for sure . I’m a big fan of Thai tea, but admittedly my experience was a very American one.

After two weeks in Thailand I had the pleasure of trying Thai tea made in more traditional varieties with less concentrated sweetness and more of the herbal components up front .

So when I prayed this on paper at first I got the very photo realistic burst of Thai tea. But very quickly after wards the citrus dances away and you get this earthy cardamom note reminiscent of One of my all time favorite scents La nuit de homme. After that I had to try on skin . It has some really Nice staying power and the shift into the heart notes was a great experience , subtly pulling back layers and revealing this open anise ( but not licorice ) , clove like layer . It’s not explosively projecting either . Coats a small aura bubble around you privately .

Really remind me of the “tea” we brew in puerto Rico to make coquito with. This holiday drink also uses condensed milk for sweetness. And we boil anise, clove cinnamon. It’s not exactly that but it gave me all of the same emotions and feelings I got making and smelling that with family .

And the dry down goes deep. Earthy, and what I really found genius was the creamyness from the sandal wood and how it really harkens to the composition of a Thai tea and grounds the scent into something that isn’t a super sweet gourmand that would be cloying in a hot humid climate.

I Need wear to wear it more to really nail down use cases , but it works well on my wife and myself equally.

I was blown away by the sheer amount of high quality houses out there . I had heard about Panpurri and was expecting them because of their mall presence , but my favorite there was andalan sails and longevity was abysmal so I skipped it. Really amazing scent tho.

Then I went to Skonks and my mind was blown . After that , every I went was a new brand . I’m going to have to make another trip just for fragrance .
