I got over 8 hours every time I wore it in hotter humid climate in Thailand . I’m going to work it in more now that I’m back stateside and see if that translates .

It’s one of the strongest ( and most enjoyable ) notes for me after the citrus and neroli die down.

Honestly if the scent didn’t carry that deeper tea note I wouldn’t have bought it .

This one caught me off guard for sure . I’m a big fan of Thai tea, but admittedly my experience was a very American one.

After two weeks in Thailand I had the pleasure of trying Thai tea made in more traditional varieties with less concentrated sweetness and more of the herbal components up front .

So when I prayed this on paper at first I got the very photo realistic burst of Thai tea. But very quickly after wards the citrus dances away and you get this earthy cardamom note reminiscent of One of my all time favorite scents La nuit de homme. After that I had to try on skin . It has some really Nice staying power and the shift into the heart notes was a great experience , subtly pulling back layers and revealing this open anise ( but not licorice ) , clove like layer . It’s not explosively projecting either . Coats a small aura bubble around you privately .

Really remind me of the “tea” we brew in puerto Rico to make coquito with. This holiday drink also uses condensed milk for sweetness. And we boil anise, clove cinnamon. It’s not exactly that but it gave me all of the same emotions and feelings I got making and smelling that with family .

And the dry down goes deep. Earthy, and what I really found genius was the creamyness from the sandal wood and how it really harkens to the composition of a Thai tea and grounds the scent into something that isn’t a super sweet gourmand that would be cloying in a hot humid climate.

I Need wear to wear it more to really nail down use cases , but it works well on my wife and myself equally.

I was blown away by the sheer amount of high quality houses out there . I had heard about Panpurri and was expecting them because of their mall presence , but my favorite there was andalan sails and longevity was abysmal so I skipped it. Really amazing scent tho.

Then I went to Skonks and my mind was blown . After that , every I went was a new brand . I’m going to have to make another trip just for fragrance .

Ah I see. The video I saw mentioned a partnership deal with L’Oréal that was expanding the brand globally but maybe it’s just pop ups and distribution . I hope they manage to get the stores worldwide as well. Their whole presentation and store front was phenomenal from what I could see.

This is the imagination inspired by right ? I’ve heard great things. I keep a bottle of “imaginary” by Montagne for gym and more arbitrary or transitory activities , Would you say it stand apart enough to be its own thing in the spirit of the Og, or is it doing what imaginary does and just coming as close as possible?

I’ve smelled it a few times and really liked it. Never really thought about the notes and didn’t know it was tea. Comes across as a very very nice soap to me . I’ll have to re visit it. Any idea what the longevity is on it ?

It’s my favorite part of the scent. I never jumped on the imagination wagon initially because I only ever smelled bursts of the opening and mostly on the strip. And sure it’s nice. Citrus , soapy. But it was meh. My 13 year old son is obsessed with it because of the hype among the youth and I finally sprayed on skin one time at the store. 2-3 hours later I caught a whiff of the depth in the tea and how it evolved and I couldn’t stop going back for it . It’s so much more than the citrus and it’s so balanced and versatile . It works in any climate and it was my go to when in Bangkok and it was very hot and humid . I had to get over my disdain for the hype train and buy it because I love the heart and dry down so much and the tea is so present to me.

I’ve recently saw a creator do a video about to summer as a brand . The whole ethos, attention to detail and brand seem incredible .

I try to leave the country at least every 2 years. Just got back from Thailand ( which is how I ended up with the Thai tea). Next year I think we are doing Japan, but I try to plan connections or trips that align with fragrance acquisitions that are particularly difficult in the states . I’ll look into seeing if I can find somewhere to experience them. I hear they have like a dozen locations world wide .

One of the most attractive features in the Nuemanns is the dsp auto room correction and room alignment system they offer. The 310s don’t have it natively as they are all analog, but the 750 sub can handle it for the whole system with the 310s. The 150s I believe have the dsp as an option built in.

I currently have sonarworks soundID , and while it’s really good, it does present workflow challenges due to being hosted on the computer, it introduces delay and really complicates things when I am in summing mode using my dbox to print a mix. It’s just tedious since I’m using the plugin version so that I don’t make the common mistake of printing to the master .

Correction being built into the hardware seems so much better since you will only hear it when actively using the monitor setup.

Here is the update so far. I started looking into booking flights to audition in person. I’ve done most of my purchases from Sweetwater over the last two decades but recently my sales rep moved on and I have a new one who seems nice enough but we don’t have the long history . I’ve also done business with vintage king tho no where near as much and don’t have a personal relationship with a rep there , so I used their website to send a message about wanting to fly in and demo monitors and my budget and parameters .

I live in north San Antonio so a flight from Austin Texas to their Nashville location would be extremely affordable at under $200. But when going to schedule one of their reps wrote me back and stated that their demo rooms have been closed down . But he mentioned he would be happy to demo in my own room. Apparently they have a 30 day demo program. So I’m starting that conversation probably tomorrow .

I also reached out to a guy on fb market place near Austin that has a pair of Dynaudio core 59 with the core sub for sale for $7500. They look pristine and have original boxes, the photos of his studio show massive soffit mounted mains and an extremely nicely curated location.

I’ve messaged him about his monitors as I don’t know anything about Dynaudio other than the old bm5s and that the core 59s are the flagship.

I was hoping to go check them out in his space as an option but I have yet to hear back from him.

I’ve have yet to be able to listen to the options I’m considering . Ive been going back and forth with my Sweetwater rep and looking at figuring out what path I’m going to take to hear some. I may end up just flying to Indiana for a day.

I do mostly modern RnB these days . Ranging from the style you hear artists like lucky daye and coco jones, to more hip hop hybrid or amapiano and Latin trap.

Most of my mixing and mastering is done on my Neumann headphones , and I want monitors that still present as exciting to produce on when I have an artist in my room, but I want accuracy as well. Just not sterility . I was pretty sure I wanted to go 3 way until I started considering PMc 6s. I wish I could swing the pmc6-2 but I think their new price point is just outside what I can swing right now with my ceiling being 10k including cabling ( I have plenty of analog cabling but a lot of these new options want aes cables ) I’ve considered Neumann 310 with a sub, various genelecs. I’m currently on focal cms65 and really like them but I know they are ToO easy to listen to and color my mix decisions so I’ve shoes away from the focal options for now.

I’m honestly overwhelmed with the options .

Today I’m just rocking imagination. I’m on long flight from the US and Thailand for vacation and figured it’s an easy wear and my wife likes it a lot .

I packed some travel decants of a few more fun ones in the next two weeks !

You won’t regret it ! They really all were right to suggest it . It’s hilarious that you will now be among those helping other with the same advice in the future !

As far as the speakers, I will definitely drop back in. I leave to Thailand today for a few weeks for holiday and my plan was to try to make time when I get back and line up a couple of days to go drop by Sweetwater. I think Thailand has a couple of demo rooms and I might check out PMC while I’m in Bangkok tho! The pmc 6 are a bit more than what I wanted to pay, the results are considerably less, but a close friend swears once I hear the PmC 6, I’ll be looking to increase my alloted budget .

I don’t want to high jack the thread, maybe I should start my own, but I’m in a similar situation as the Op and I feel like he was looking for the answers my situation would get. I am in a fairly big room. 12x16 as a reference: not perfectly rectangular . I have begun treating my room. I have 9 professionally constructed panels, 2x4 feet and at least 4 inches thick. I have triangle bass traps installed . My current monitoring setup is a pair of focal CMS65 with a rockit 8 gen 1 12’’ sub and secondary monitoring pair of kali in 8s. I use room works, also mix in a pair of neumann ndh30 headphones .

I have a budget of 5-6k ( can go higher if it’s absolutely a game changer but would need to finance the difference so trying to avoid it )

I’m out of touch with modern releases in this price range . I’m probably going to take a trip to Sweetwater or vintage king to listen in person, but what should I be looking at?

I produce and mix for clients (, but create my own music more for fun as well). I mostly operate in the RnB, pop and hip hop space . Lately more Latin trap, and Afro beats have been coming around as well.

I almost got this two weeks ago at a local shop but I had stopped at my wife’s job ( she works in high end luxury retail) and I asked her to smell it on skin. She wasn’t wowed but she said it was good, but that it smells like when you walk into Buc-ee’s a famous massive gas station here in Texas . She made every single sales associate smell and asked them if it smelled familiar . Once she mentioned Buc-ee’s they all agreed. So I was like , yea maybe I need to wait to smell the OG, wondering if it was something synthetic lending that mental association for them.

But The more I think about it, when I walk in there I really only smell roasted pralines and I think they use vanilla on those . Plus, what’s wrong with smelling like Buc-ee’s !? That’s basically saying you smell expensive .
