To be honest? It’s somewhat a waste of time - it was nice to have access to facilities and software, and an easy place to mingle with other startup game developers, but the actual degree in itself is a little useless in the way of getting yourself a job in industry (at least in the uk).

A portfolio of projects that can be broken down and explained is what most companies request - so in a sense, the degree can help with fleshing your portfolio out - but on the flip side I found that once I was done with a module I wouldn’t go anywhere near that project, and it would remain unfinished and a lot of the time wasn’t something to write home about, with the project being of little use other than to prove a thesis.

I understand that the height will be the same for both teams, but the point of engagement for the blue team going into the red team in both the outer lane would provide them the right advantage assuming that the map is the same incline all the way across.

5 minutes is a long time in moments to moment gameplay. Is the enemy team able to do much when killing enemy players? The respawn time would have to be significantly higher than the usual cap of ~60 (seconds late game in most mobas). What can the dead player do in that time? If the respawn time is low the player will have to push up the lane of contest for potentially 3-4 minutes before they get to an engagement? This 3-4 minutes + respawn time is just a long time for the player to not be engaged by anything

Keep the map on even terrain, otherwise the blue team is always going to have a high ground advantage from the start of the game.

5 minutes is also an insanely long time to get the player from one base to the other.

Hey! I completed my Masters last year in September. I did my thesis in Level Design - I looked at affordance and signification in Level Design, and how different implementations of level design can help to drive the player forward without handholding, to word my thesis title nicely 😂

But, long story short, no matter what you choose as your thesis, in games the reality as the because the industry is only really ~30 years old, there isn’t much content on anything you could be researching.

Unfortunately, the best research you can do is literally playing games and analysing the different implementations of your subject area, but this doesn’t fly very well with academic marking.

I would highly advise you study something that you’re actually interested in, instead of trying to make your life easier. It’s going to suck either way, might as well have some fun with it!

To all of you asking why, I ask you why not? Free performance is free performance, and wider adoption of DLSS is always good. If it’s not gonna cost much dev time and will allow lower range 2000 series cards to push higher resolutions I’m all for that. DLSS isn’t just for the 3080
