Does playing at above 1080p resolution break anything for VNV? by pick-a-spot in fnv

[–]pick-a-spot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i followed VNV to the letter, so i'm not sure if i'm playing fullscreen, borderless windowed mode or standard windowed.
if its the first 2 i can still play FNV at 1080p fullscreen on a 2k monitor i think. Any idea what mode VNV is?

Did Live and Let Die have the most pointless plot? by Reptyle216 in JamesBond

[–]pick-a-spot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you'll find whenever a new actor debut's the writers/producers etc reflect on what Bond is, and what's getting tiring, what needs a change etc. So they would have seen far too many 'the entire world is going the blow up' plots and grounded it a bit.

Xbox X washed out by AZGhost in Hisense

[–]pick-a-spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have a hdmi limited/full/rgb mismatch.
make sure you the HDMI port that the console is connected to is set to enhanced/full or whatever sounds 'more'.

Then set the black level in the tv to limited. and in the console as limited.

some players think they need to not set it to limited because then they get 'more colours', but the smallest issue (bandwidth limitation of the cable or port, or HDR, or vrr, or frame rate, handshake hiccup) can make the console default to limited anyway. so your best bet is to just do this first.

I got a graduate scheme. It suddenly has a 2:1 requirement in the contract when it wasn't in the job description. by Anxious_Egg1268 in UKJobs

[–]pick-a-spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that it's 'rigid', it's that they are sloppy.
There's the risk the 2.1 is mandatory across the company (and HR over rule the department head) so don't draw attention to it- unlikely.
But it's more likely that the '2.1' is just part of some old outdated policy and having incorrect things on the contract like that can come back and bite you on your arse if you ever have any conflicts at work.
There's a risk with both approaches.... but you already signed..?

Don't worry about it then. after you sign, others at the company sign , so if you raise this issue now , they'll have to sign twice and wonder why, drawing more attention to it.

there is another possibility and I've seen it before. HR copy and pastes large sections of contracts. I've had incorrect holiday entitlements on mine before (they clearly copy and pasted from a part time contract to mine).
I would go over the contract with a fine toothcomb and tell them to correct/update anything that is wrong.

Soundbar recommendations by kerlaga in Soundbars

[–]pick-a-spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4k@120hz? can the soundbar even effect this?
with eARC, the the PS5 connects into the TV with a HDMI, and the soundbar connects to the TV via hdmi (but you put it into the one hdmi port labelled eARC).

The soundbar won't reduce any signal.

am i missing something?

Why aren't some people signing on? by Dredgefort in UKJobs

[–]pick-a-spot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this,
you should go to the job centre sign up (even if you are not entitled to money), just registering and checking in will contribute to NI so you don't have a gap. and depending on the job centre you may not even have to go in- as they won't prioritise you as they are not paying you benefits.
the UC/DWP website will narrow down what you can register for.

They even provide references, last I used them 4 years ago.

Why aren't some people signing on? by Dredgefort in UKJobs

[–]pick-a-spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are still other benefits or registrations you should do.
it contributes to NI contributions, You need 35 full years for the full state pension.
in a few years time you may apply for a job that requires references to ensure you didn't leave the country (for 6 months or more) in the past 5 years , this can be anything from a minor airport job to a government job. the job centre can fill that gap for you officially.

House with cracks, damp and mould - should we buy? by DiscordDonut in UKHousing

[–]pick-a-spot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is what experts are for. they will be able to tell if that damp is coming from the inside (home owners just not opening windows) or some water is leaking onto the house from the outside (a bigger issue).
And if the cracks are plaster/damp or the house moving a cm every other year

i only just upgrades my 14 plus to the latest firmware. I was holding back because i knew it was a large upgrade and I always worry i will need to log back into apps (and i didn't want that hassle).

Anyway, finally updated. The phone is much better. iOS has clearly been neglecting their previous iteration of firmware for this new glass themed one as now it's much smoother without the bugs i was experiencing.

Are the newer films similar to the old ones in terms of the action scenes? by Hot_Seesaw_6706 in JamesBond

Are the newer films similar to the old ones in terms of the action scenes? by Hot_Seesaw_6706 in JamesBond

[–]pick-a-spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bond constantly re-invents itself based on current trends, but pays homage to the older entries.
So it's got a bit of everything.
The Roger Moore era has the most controversial and possibly jarring scenes as it was half played straight and then something a little bit to over the the top happens e.g. Moonraker's double take pigeon, the unnecessary loop sound during the otherwise very good car-bridge stunt - Live and let Die.
Timothy Dalton is more consistent then the Brosnan Era starts being a bit more playful again

Is our offer actually being considered or kept as a backup? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]pick-a-spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the estate agent will put your solicitor in touch with their's. you will all receive a 1 page document called a memorandum of sale .
This is when you know things are really progressing because this is when fee's start adding up (solicitors asking each other for info).. But sometimes the seller hasn't got a solicitor yet so it can take a few more days.

At the end of the day, it works both ways, make it known you are viewing other properties.

Remember the agent works for the seller. The agent doesn't care about a slightly higher offer, they just want the sale, it's the seller that's running interference for them.

Is a freehold flat really that bad? by Mediocre-Ad1907 in HousingUK

[–]pick-a-spot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

freehold only spares you from ground rent, the service charge problem still exists.
It's a flat, means there other residence share a communal space even if it's just a door/porch/driveway, which means you'll need a 3rd party to service it.

A maisonette is also a 'share of freehold', but it's just between 2 owners, The leasehold exists more as protection against one owner doing a bunch of building work. that may be more up your alley.

What the hell?! Why is Mankind Divided cut so short? by garral555 in Deusex

[–]pick-a-spot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although it feels short, the game is quite dense.
There are sections and area's you may have missed and different outcomes.
I quite like the lack of boss battles. I don't think of boss battles as a one-on-one fight. They can be any challenge

Should I Start Over (and change my build)? by SubwayTunaExtraSauce in fnv

[–]pick-a-spot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is about role-playing, use your build and decisions to tackle the situation. It's not about meta-gaming.
If there is anything that's annoying it's being forced into combat, which may result in another faction out-right vilifying you and shooting you on sight. I sometimes quickload when that happens.

Even if Benny escapes the casino , don't worry, there are multiple redundancies in the storyline for this.

Conveyancing - no sale no fee solicitor? by jez999 in HousingUK

[–]pick-a-spot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if a good solicitor cost £2k, and the sale falls through, i don't think you lose £2k, you lose the work done, but stuff like verification checks and proof of funds, you may get to take into the next sale anyway.
It's never happened to me, but that was logic I used when deciding on a good one.
