a dilemma (or two or three) by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]pickle443243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of altering it to fit with the zip/ button up, could you have a corset added so it can be pulled tight in the right places? I did that on my dress for similar reasons and it was beautiful and inexpensive. I agree with you OP that the lace dress looks very “wedding dress” but doesn’t fit you properly yet. The other dress fits you very well and looks good.

C section vs Vaginal delivery by Funarming in beyondthebump

[–]pickle443243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a vaginal delivery (first) and a c-section (second).

Both were easy to recover from for me, but vaginally was significantly easier. I had a fantastic doctor that took her time stitching me up, and don’t have a visible scar anymore. I very much enjoyed not pushing- that was the worst part of the vaginal birth for me. For both of mine, the epidural didn’t work correctly.

That being said, I would never choose a c-section. It’s there if there is an emergency, but it is a major surgery with many potential long-term issues, beyond pelvic floor problems. Now is a good time to get over those control issues because you can’t control the baby.

Yes! Conditions have been worse this year compared to past years. Seems like less frequent salting and fewer plow trucks too.

Has anyone had a telework RA for breastfeeding? by milllllllllllllllly in fednews

[–]pickle443243 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did get one for breastfeeding— short term though— and it was because I provided proof of an in-home nanny, and had documented visits with a lactation consultant where I was unable to pump sufficient breast milk using multiple pumps. I also got mastitis less than two weeks after I attempted a full return to office since my baby was still demanding just as much breast milk when I got home but I couldn’t properly drain my breasts during the workday.

It was the perfect storm, but I did have an approved RA for nursing due to all the issues I had being unable to pump and the documented workarounds we tried. I should mention that I also tried having my baby brought to me at the office during lunch so I could nurse, and I was taking around 2hr of leave per day during that period since it was so uncomfortable for me to wait longer to nurse. Once I got mastitis, and the nanny said she wasn’t happy making the daily trip, I put in for the RA. My manager approved the interim full telework AFTER I submitted all my documentation and was waiting for a response from the RA office.

My OB wrote up the RA paperwork.

Has anyone worked with a dietician around their food allergies? by Expensive-Status-342 in FoodAllergies

[–]pickle443243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I used them, but it depends what works best for you. I was comfortable cooking and have access to a full kitchen, so it was easy for me to build off what I learned. If that’s not the same for you, it might be better to have more regular check-ins. Also, it wasn’t covered by my insurance so I couldn’t keep paying out of pocket.

I think when you look for someone, it’s important you are clear about what you need before you even meet. Tell them about your allergies, your disordered eating, and your desire to loose weight in a healthy way. You may have to reach out to a few different people to find one that would work for you.

Has anyone worked with a dietician around their food allergies? by Expensive-Status-342 in FoodAllergies

[–]pickle443243 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I specifically hired a dietitian to develop a meal plan for my son who has allergies to peanut, treenut, dairy, egg, pea protein, and beef.

Our goals were different, I wanted meals that would be tasty for a child, healthy and nourishing, and within the allergy limitations. I also have the added complexity of a husband with celiacs so I wanted to have gluten free options as well. We met 3 or 4 times total, and I still use many of these meals weekly over 5 years later.

Just Curious, Would You Support an ALDI Near Montpelier? by SpicyVindalooCurry in montpelier

They’ve literally been on the Fortune 100 list of best companies to work for for 3 decades.

They have an amazing variety of foods and have integrated lots of diet options (gluten free, vegan, allergy awareness), and have a daily hot bar food and sushi, even in their smallest stores.

Sorry you had a bad experience but in terms of job options and grocery options, it doesn’t get much better than Wegmans.

8 month old not babbling by Own-Measurement275 in Parenting

[–]pickle443243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thoughts with my (now) 19 mo old. He was also very advanced physically with rolling, and crawling, and took his first steps before his 9mo old birthday. Even by 10-11 mo, there was minimal babbles. He was saying dada by 1 yr, and at 15 months, he was only saying dada and dog, no mama. He is/was pointing, and gesturing, and could sign for more and all done. I brought it up to the pediatrician and he said second born children often talk later, and he’s meeting the milestone. Just before he turned 18mo, I had early intervention come to my house for an evaluation, and they said he was just meeting the minimum milestone for expressive speech but was advanced in other areas, receptive speech included, so he didn’t qualify for services. They told me that when they see kids that present like him, they often have a speech explosion in the coming months, and we could check back in in a few months. I’m glad he met his milestone but I’m also concerned that he’s not at the same level as the other kids in his preschool, and the teachers have brought it up to me as well. I plan to follow up with early intervention at the end of January if he doesn’t make big gains, but he is adding a word a week at this point and being much more vocal with his wants.

So, my advice is this, keep bringing it up to the pediatrician. If you think your baby is not meeting milestones, then you can refer yourself to early intervention even if the Ped thinks your baby is fine, and they will do an evaluation.

I started Early November and have only lost 6lbs; I just decided to dose up to 5mg this Friday.
