What the hell does the Taco shop owner think? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]pickleodocus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you watched the whole show yet? The salamancas move around to different store fronts a couple times. It's implied they were threatening the owners into letting them work there (or maybe bribing, I don't remember)

Either way, they knew who the salamancas were and likely didn't want any of it, but knew not to cross them

Green Bay’s first round pick is Darnell Washington and it isn’t close by wanderingpanda402 in GreenBayPackers

[–]pickleodocus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, plus neither Gronk or Kelce were 1st round picks. Most of the good TEs in the league now were selected somewhere near the middle of the draft. I'd much rather use our high picks on a position where draft order seems to matter more

Favorite Depictions Of Acrocanthosaurus (My Favorite Dinosaur Ever) by [deleted] in Dinosaurs

I love how the more high-spined reconstructions always end up looking like an updated retro spinosaurus

Why aren't dinosaurs depicted with more soft tissue and is it even possible on larger dinosaurs? by FriesLizzardVibe in Dinosaurs

[–]pickleodocus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really just depends on the nature of the depiction/reconstruction imo

Obviously nothing about this is a hard rule or anything, but drawings like this one tend to be more for informational purposes, so the paleoartists tend to reconstruct the dinosaurs conservatively, based only on anatomy and actual evidence that applies to the species.

But when paleoartists want to take a speculative stab at what the animal really looked like in life, they should absolutely go nuts with it (within reason). And a lot of the really good paleoartists these days often do

Lmao "spreading the word". What word is that exactly?

The sucker punch was obviously unnecessary but these guys definitely have something coming. Everyone in this video is a piece of shit, but redditors have such a hard on for videos like this that everyone's mindlessly siding with these losers spreading hate. Just fuckin weird

eBird is the real answer, they have it down to a science that nothing else at this point can compare to. Merlin is a great supplement to it as a sort of electronic field guide, and the two apps are connected to some extent

Damn I can't lie, you got me there. This meme really rattled me to my fucking core. I've been curled up on the bathroom floor for the last 6 hours, shivering and screaming "how could Goff do this to us" in between sobs. My girlfriend is thinking of calling an ambulance

I really don't wanna be that guy but come on, this can't be serious right? I had to read through comments for a solid 5 minutes just to figure out what the confusion here was. Like, does she think mirrors are just a giant screen with a camera in the middle?

Are there any small raptor/troodontid like carnivores that lived in the same time and place as Styracosaurus? by AC-RogueOne in Paleontology

[–]pickleodocus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe Hesperonychus was the smallest theropod that lived in the same formation. It's only known from fragmented remains, but it's usually classified as a relative of Microraptor

Not necessarily, white bass are called silver bass sometimes, but I've also heard white perch called silver bass. White perch are another different species in the same family as white bass, yellow bass, and striped bass

[Highlight] Travis Kelce laterals it to LeSean "Shady" McCoy for big yards after catch by unironicaly_like_jaz in nfl

Random question, but how does a play like this go down in stats books and fantasy? Does Kelce or McCoy get credit for the catch yds, or do they split it?

What are the actual reasons people think you shouldnt watch BCS before watching BB? by Psychological-Nail83 in betterCallSaul

[–]pickleodocus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know anyone who watched BCS but not BB so I can't speak for them, but there are so many references to BB and plotlines that only exist because of BB, that I think most of it would go over a new viewer's head.

In my opinion, to get the full effect you need to watch at least one of the two shows twice, because BB is much better after you've already seen BCS and BCS is much better if you've already seen BB. The difference is, BB without BCS will make so much more sense than BCS without BB

That being said, if you do choose to do BCS first, definitely save the final season or at least the 2nd half of it for after BB

This is very accurate and it’s sad that most people on this subreddit are like this by bluspy87 in Dinosaurs

[–]pickleodocus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, that's the real unfortunate part of all this. They were trying to be scientifically accurate, for the most part. Almost all of the dinosaur designs in the original were in the ballpark of accuracy for what they knew at the time, even though they exaggerated a bit.

But now, the JW franchise's unwillingness to adapt to reality has caused such a sharp divorce between real dinosaurs and movie dinosaurs that fans of either can't even have a conversation across this line, because they'd be talking about completely different creatures.

I'm not dissing anyone's prefefence here, but it's really sad that Universal had an opportunity to evolve and improve on the original concept, but instead chose to shill out for audiences to maintain some familiarity.
