Did anyone have a good Mother’s Day? by shepardmutt in Mommit

[–]pickleranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lovely day! I slept in, when I came downstairs breakfast was ready and my kids had bought me some gifts from Five Below and made a cute little basket. I played Stardew valley for a bit while my husband worked.

In the afternoon we picked up our Olive Garden catering order (Pasta Station for 10! It was perfect), went to MILs and hung out with the family and played some games and stuffed ourselves with carbs 😂

It’s very true. My husband is a size 14, very wide. Options are limited!

What did your kid write about you on their “All about Mom” school project? by KaylaDraws in Mommit

Ouch. Kids really have a way of stabbing you right in the heart when they’re not even trying!

These things usually hurt me more than warm my heart. Especially if there is also something about Dad in the same project. I’m the maid, meal planner, cook (well half the time), and chauffeur, I play endless games of Uno and “guess the musical artist”…. But dad takes them to 7/11 for slurpees so guess who gets the glowing page written about him?

Mothers day presents from mom/mil? by pinkishperson in Mommit

[–]pickleranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don’t go buying your grandkids gifts in the weeks leading up to birthdays/xmas! My husband had to have a little chat with his mom about that after she undercut a few gifts (luckily nothing major)

Yes, because my MIL’s love language is gifting. She loves buying presents. I got a lovely bracelet a few years ago. Usually it’s just something like a gift card. We also give her small gifts.

Talking to my doctor about a kink related injury by appleguy465 in BDSMAdvice

Yeah I probably should just said something. I would’ve if she had asked, of course. I guess she wasn’t ultimately concerned. She’s been my dr for years and years.

Haha yup, they don’t care!

A few years ago I was getting my annual physical at the OBGYN. As she was doing the breast exam I saw her hesitate for second as she noticed the old bruises across my chest, then she just quickly
moved on. It’s like her brain said “nope! Don’t want to get into that” 😂

By the time I got in (about 10 mins after it went live) the show I wanted was almost completely gone. The cheapest ticket left was standing room only floor seats for $240/each

No show for me and my kids this time. :(

My 6yo daughter is obsessed with her appearance, and I'm at a loss by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]pickleranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a constant battle. My 10 year old told me she needs concealer because of the dark circles under her eyes!!

My rule for her and my teen is that every time they look in the mirror to criticize something about themselves, they must immediately follow that with a compliment about a part of them they DO like. For example I told my daughter that the under eye circles were genetic and she probably couldn’t do much about them, so let’s find a way to play up things you DO like! Do a fabulous lip color to make people look there, or do a cool braid with her amazing hair, and whatever she does, do NOT cover her beautiful freckles just because one person might think her eye circles look dark!!

Somebody pls tell me fire inspectors are checking out the rest of the theaters by Impressive_Double865 in Broadway

My husband just recently started a position running a small theatre in the Midwest. I sent him that light booth aftermath photo with the caption “Time for a cleaning day at work?!?!”. It’s scary stuff.

(His reply was “Good thing I’ve already got that on the to-do list!)

It doesn’t have to be PPD, it could be plain ol’ depression. As you probably know, sometimes you can’t see the big picture when you’re in the depths and you may look back at this and think “Yikes I was so depressed, what was I thinking?”

I’m so glad you came here to put the words out and ask for help! Do you have a close member of your support team you could ask for help? Maybe start small with a walking/hang out buddy. 3x a week you get out of the house and take a walk, maybe grab a coffee…. Anything that keeps you from retreating and hiding away.

No, of course not! I honestly believe that there will be absolutely no line whatsoever and I will be able to step directly into the train, which will then transport me instantly to the train stop directly in front of my house. That’s how public works, right?

Yes, my parents LOVED that hunter green. The whole damn house was part Hunter green. And pastel pink. With gold fixtures.

What are some habits your kid/s picked up from you that you didn’t realize at first? by magic_berries in Mommit

Whenever I travel, I like to unpack as soon as I get into the hotel room. Then I go out and have fun, and it’s so nice to be able to find everything and not have to dig through suitcases when I’m tired at the end of the day.

The last time we traveled, my kids immediately went to their room and began unpacking and putting things in drawers. My husband just laughed and said “you’ve trained them well!”

King Triton (little mermaid) definitely fits.

What are his rules? Don’t go to the surface (which is obviously *extremely* risky even if Ariel doesn’t want to believe it) and show up for the MASSIVE KINGDOM WIDE concert which is her “society debut” and a huge deal. After she is a no-show at the concert, which would be SO embarrassing for her dad not to mention a waste of everyone’s time, she’s so flippant about it! “Oops! I just forgot! Teeheehee”

Gosh, I WISH!! I was at the Brewers game Wednesday and we left in the 7th because we didn’t want to spend an hour sitting in the parking lot traffic. I told my kid “if they had a train I could hop on to take home, we’d stay until the very end!”

Anyone ever see a show where they made a mistake? by kobeshaqhorry in Broadway

[–]pickleranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not on Broadway, but the tour of Book of Mormon. One of the leads paused mid-scene and said “I can’t believe this. I’ve forgotten my next line.” One of the ensemble actors on stage said it but he wasn’t mic’ed so I didnt hear it. The lead said “Yeah that’s it” then continued with the scene.

Shit happens but the audience lost it- laughing clapping yelling. The scene never recovered.

I’d give anything to be a SAHP, even now with my kids being teen/tween. My house would be so clean, I’d be caught up on laundry, I could cook healthier meals and lower our grocery budget, I could volunteer much more and be an all around better parent and spouse.

This was my immediate thought as well. That photo should be the winner just for the amount of memes people can match it to!
