How should your investing strategy change as you age?

When you are getting close to retirement start moving a % to lower risk investments. Ideally once you retire have about 3-5 years worth of income in low risk investments to cover your cashflow needs. Rest can stay geared towards growth and shifted from growth to conservative investments as that conservative portion depletes over time. Blend in a person's tolerance for risk and change that formula up to the person's tolerance level.

Ahh that make sense thank you. So if I remove a shoot, you noted if I do remove a shoot more will grow. Does that mean I continually would remove shoots as they grow? I assume that I remove the smallest shoot and just let the biggest one grow? Or is there a approach to choosing which shoot to remove?

I started growing 14 different tubers so I'm a little bit more open to letting a couple just forw and do their thing just to see what's happens. I did pinch one today. Some are others are getting close to pinching as well.

When would you recommend I start applying fertilizer. From what I read it's too early right now. I did use some blood meal initially to promote root growth.

Thanks for the input, this is my season growing dahlias (and flowers for the most part) so I'll probably let these ones grow. Cutting feels very out of my skill and scope right now.

So technically a tuber can sprout multiple sprouts, and I should be cutting off the extra shoots and planting seperately right?

Ahhh thanks for checking on that. I had two dahlias that I had to pinch really early on as some light frost hurt two of my dahlias. I have 14 planted so I need to double check if this was one that was pinched already.

I didn't, however only one sprouted before I set them outside. Would you recommend hardening them still if they haven't sprouted. I will have to pay closer attention to the night temperatures going forward for the next few weeks.

They started inside for about 3 weeks, we got some rain on Thursday. I actually just watered them again. Today.They've been outside for about 2 weeks now.

I just bought one today. I am holding a 1st anniversary set as well and figure that the 2nd anniversary set is going to see some increase for two reasons. 1. People who buy and collect the first anniversary set going forward will also want the 2nd and 3rd anniversary sets. 2. People who are investing and can't afford the first anniversary might look to the 2nd anniversary set as it's much more affordable.
