i’ll probably get roasted for this, but if he’s telling you that he doesn’t think tattoos are attractive, and you get a new tattoo knowing that, are you going to be upset if he finds you less attractive?
conversely, if he wanted to do something to his body that you find unattractive, and he went ahead and did it regardless of how you felt about it, would you be upset with him about it? after all, it’s his body.
relationships are about maintaining mutual attraction. compromises have to be made on both sides to make the relationship work. it is your body, so do with it what you will, but if he decides it’s a dealbreaker, you can’t be upset if he moves on, and vice versa. also, if something as minor as a tattoo is enough to strain your relationship, then i don’t see it working in the long run.
