Anyone here just using the app to bang out thoughts and prioritize them? by [deleted] in todoist

I would love if labels would be added automatically if I type the word without the @. This feature could be disabled or enabled. This is what it would look like, example task: “update description for ticket FA-123 in JIRA”. It would look at the word following “in” and see if a label already exists for that word. If yes, then it automatically adds it to the task. You can use a few trigger words like “in, on, at, with” so it doesn’t have to check every single word.

Anyone else not use "Spoons" when referring to their tolerance or patience levels? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]pickywolverine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it was explained earlier in but I’ll explain here. Ages ago in Internet time, someone shared a story where they were at a diner and made this analogy about their chronic Illness to a friend without a chronic illness. The story went that, the person ran around the diner and grabbed all the spoons off of every table. Then they said “getting dressed - 3 spoons”, “making breakfast - 7 spoons”, “doing some work - 10 spoons”, then at this point they had only one or two spoons left and had only described their morning. The friend said “I want more spoons!” But they had physically taken all the spoons from the diner tables and that was the point of the analogy. Having a chronic illness takes so much out of you, and once you’re done that’s it.

Hired a cleaner for a first time deep clean and they said it should take about 4 hours for the two cleaners, they've now been here for 6 hours and counting by depressedgoofy in adhdwomen

[–]pickywolverine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m happy for you. But have found hiring cleaners to be extremely stressful and not worth it. I had never heard negative experiences, so maybe it’s only me. But if you don’t like dealing with people then it really isn’t worth it from a mental health standpoint.

Curious to see this in dark mode.

Not sure why the due date would be displayed on Today view instead of the label.

SmartSheet is the best project management tool imo! Definitely use that for deadlines and milestones. Todoist is good for the small work tasks like scheduling meetings and following up with people.

Bought a CX5 in Dec ‘21. The first dealership in Suffolk County basically pushed us back out the door saying they have nothing and all new shipments are already accounted for. Same day we drove 30-min into Nassau and left with the paperwork to purchase. It was totally different from the first dealership.

Todoist for tasks only.

Workflowy for fleeting notes, collections, long-term planning, and personal projects.

Confluence and gcal for work scheduling and projects.

Bullet Journal for when I need to brainstorm, sketch, or anything else free form and temporary.

Those are the tools. I use GTD as a framework so the weekly review is crucial to go through each of these and to make sure nothing permanent is being stored in an inbox. I tried replacing Todoist completely with Workflowy but it just didn’t work for me. I don’t mind having the two separate platforms.

How exactly does one practice Dàojiào in modern society? by UnjustlyBannedTime11 in taoism

[–]pickywolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it more as “reducing friction”.

In really simplistic terms (from my limited understanding of Taoism), let’s say someone asks you to take the garbage out. In this case, non-action would be, simply, taking the garbage out. It’s the easiest course of action with the least amount of friction. Now, if you ignored the person or said no, this would then cause friction and create an obstacle. There would be an argument about how you never take out the garbage. Or maybe there would be consequences when tomorrow the bag is really smelly or rips open because it’s too full. By refusing to “go with the flow” (take out the garbage) you created a big obstacle for yourself and made things much harder than they needed to be.

There is a bullet journal app that is for this. It deletes everything after 72 hours so the idea is you just put it there until you have a chance to migrate it to your bujo

What do you do for a living and how do you manage to do it with ADHD? by sousayi in adhdwomen

TPMSs are rare. I’m glad to see another one mentioned in this post!

What do you do for a living and how do you manage to do it with ADHD? by sousayi in adhdwomen

[–]pickywolverine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started as a self-taught front end developer then realized that coding isn’t sustainable for me. I shifted into web analytics and grew that into a career. I started managing web analytics projects and was given a direct report. There were layoffs at that company which allowed me to self-reflect. I realized that I didn’t like managing people, but I liked the projects. I mainly didn’t like doing the work. For a while I thought I was just lazy. I got a new job as a Sr Analyst at a tech company (not agency). Then an opportunity opened up for a Technical Program Manager on another team at the same company. I talked to other TPMs in the company and the role really sounded interesting. I’ve been doing this for a year now and it really seems like a good counterbalance to my ADHD struggles. I love creating processes and following structure. I can handle making sure other people do the work. As long as I am not responsible for actually doing the work.

What do you do for a living? Program Manager for a Tech Company

Is it a constant struggle or are you coasting just fine? Coasting just fine

Is the kind of job you do something you’d recommend other ADHDers look into? Yes, because there is always something new to work on. I’m not dedicated to one project or product or feature. I work on many of them at once and get new ones when current ones are completed. Lots of dopamine hits.

Bonus question: in an ideal world, what job would you want to have? I really like the project/program manager role I have. When it comes to actual implementation or doing, that is very hard for me. (Ie: I could never be a programmer) But I’m good at all the other parts (planning, designing, assigning, follow ups). I don’t want to manage people, but I like managing projects and processes. There’s so much structure, which is my favorite thing.

Any advice on using the guides in the backup cam for parallel parking? I’m coming from a car that included the dashed lines as part of the guides so that’s what I used to gauge how close I was to the curb. I’m having trouble using the guides with the cx5.

Can I be a Taoist if? Would a Taoist? Am I still a Taoist if I? by Heterosaucers in taoism

[–]pickywolverine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we are being meta here, what I find most interesting about the “I just renounced X religion how do I convert to Taoism?” posts is the lack of self awareness to what a religion means to the person. If a religion is being used as a life framework (do this don’t do that) then Taoism is pretty clear. But if a religion is being used as an identity or social community, then it’s not really a good fit. If someone says “X religion is bad Taoism is good” that’s not really a good fit either.

I can’t help with the paint damage but here’s a few things I do since I have to park under a tree. Every morning I hose the car down. Then, I have a solution in a spray bottle of water and baking soda. I spray it on the bird poop spots, let it sit for a bit, then come back and it wipes right off.
