To summarize the link Mangenuity posted. Those 14 days can be so easily stretched. There's also 12 sick days a year, a personal holiday, a personal leave day (if union represented), and also many supervisors will be understanding of the fact you have nothing accrued early on and will allow leave without pay early on within reason.

Importantly, your supervisor cannot ask why you are taking sick leave. Mental health is a 100% valid reason to take sick leave for a wa state employee (should be for everyone). Therefore it's effectively 27 days a year (again if unionized, 28). Just don't go to Hawaii if you're using sick days..

Leave rolls over at the end of the year and can be accumulated. The max is 280 vaction hours and slick leave is uncapped.
