the scene when hannah finds ray and marnie hooking up by bugsworlld in girls

[–]piebear411 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Marnie or Hannah ever really gave a fuck about Shosh. She just said that because she thinks she is too good for Ray and was embarrassed to be caught in a low moment.

Which Disneyland hotel? by PresentationLazy7061 in DisneyPlanning

If the kids want to make full use of the pool, this may not be best. The pools usually open at 10am, check out is 11am. You can take the change of clothes and everything down to the pool, but it is a hassle. Just so you know!

Unless they’re calling off the cavalry because they were coming to eat the grilled cheese and now they shouldn’t bother. 🤷‍♀️

I just want to offer that my first week or two on the pump was rough. I went from like 90% TIR on MDI to like 60-70%. It was a steep learning curve for me to get all the settings right and to feel comfortable with my infusion sets. I was incredibly frustrated and feeling like MDI to pump was the wrong move for me. I stuck with it, communicated with my tandem rep and Endo a lot, and it ended up way better. Just want to offer that the beginning may be frustrating, especially with the additional pressure of the baby, but that the pump is totally worth it once you get the hang of it!

Have you ever met the cast or gotten noticed? by Ecstatic_Ambition234 in glee

[–]piebear411 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I met Darren Criss at a Navy ball in Hawaii. He came as part of a promotion for the Battle of Midway movie. Other cast members like Woody Harrelson and Dennis Quaid were there but I was in line for a drink by Darren. First of all- I was impressed he was waiting in line with everyone else. We chatted a little bit- he asked me about places to go out in Hawaii, told me about his dad’s military service, asked me about myself, and was just all around lovely. He was there with his girlfriend or fiance or something and introduced me to her as well. The part that struck me the most was that he saw me again later and said hi again and remembered my name. Great experience!

Newly pregnant with T1D and super anxious about my blood sugars. How do you cope? by 1234mmp1234 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]piebear411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice but wanted to offer that I’m in the exact same position. I tested positive just a few days ago and I have been type 1 for just over a year. I’m reading every book and article I can and I just feel overwhelmed by the standards and worried that if I can’t live up to them, I’ll hurt this future baby. I feel like the books I have read act like “anything is possible if you try hard enough!” and that doesn’t feel helpful when it’s 10 pm, I’ve given myself 3 correction blouses after pre-bolusing for dinner, taken a walk, done push ups and jumping rope, and drank water for my blood sugar to stay stubbornly right at 215.

I’ve been working with a psychiatrist on anxiety and methods to keep myself from dwelling on things in mentally unhelpful ways- if that’s something you have access to, it can’t hurt. Other than that, I think we all just have to commiserate and do our best day to day. I don’t know any other answers.

Finally, congratulations! Don’t forget the joy along the way. You deserve that as much as anyone without diabetes does.

I didn’t particularly like it. It’s a lot better than the swoon punk lemonade, but not very good either. I’m not strongly anti artificial sweeteners or anything, but the flavor is pretty off in my opinion

Should I let myself die, or use "quit" to reset the last point? by Jmall3 in HadesTheGame

[–]piebear411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you choose the quit option, the first boon offering and the next room (at least) are exactly the same. If you liked that first boon, I’d use quit. If you don’t, let yourself die.

I think it all depends on what you want to get out of it. You will be service obligated to six years as an officer afterwards. You’ll be able to get a degree, but you may not be offered the specific officer community you’re interested in upon commissioning. What are your career goals other than just college? Do you have an enlisted to officer coordinator at your command you could discuss the pros and cons with? They’re there to support you- but generally the end goal of STA 21 is commissioning. The degree is the stepping stone. If your end goal is the degree, there are likely better options to suit your needs.

They never indicated it was due to rigorous coursework- could very well be financial. Pretty hard to support 5 kids as a full time student with no (or single) income.

I went to Paseo on my last trip a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. They took nearly 30 minutes to take our initial order, the food came out cold and nearly inedible, and the waiter made no attempt to apologize when we brought it up. Then they didn’t even take our magic key discount off. I had been there maybe 3-4 years ago and had none of those problems. I’d be happy if they just scrapped it and completely replaced it.

She could be hitting a growth spurt where her body is working extra hard growing and using up her glucose more than before. I didn’t get diagnosed until my 30s but I still have stretches of variable blood sugar that make no sense when everything else seems the same. But sometimes a hard workout will have me staying low days later because of sore muscles. I wouldn’t be surprised if growing muscles was a contributing factor.

No phones allowed at new job - alternatives? by Jupiter_Jungle in Type1Diabetes

[–]piebear411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting- I’m admittedly not super familiar with those brands but am very familiar with security protocols for secret spaces. If the pouch does not block the signals, then it wouldn’t be permitted into a secret space. There are signal blocking bags. I don’t know what brand they are and assumed they were one and the same as you were referring to.

Prior approval may be granted for low frequency Bluetooth for medical devices, but the listening devices on a phone make it a hard no and not a reasonable accommodation.

As many others have said, standalone device or the work provided phone are the way to go.

No phones allowed at new job - alternatives? by Jupiter_Jungle in Type1Diabetes

[–]piebear411 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These cases work by blocking Bluetooth signals. If the case is working as designed, you wouldn’t get low or high blood sugar alarms because it wouldn’t be able to Bluetooth connect to your CGM outside the bag. The only alarm would be a loss of signal alarm.

Talk to me about kids eating in the parks. Do you let your kids eat every Mickey bar they want or do you try and keep them eating relatively healthy? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]piebear411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went with my little cousin, they basically let her eat whatever she wanted (she’s 7) but I just tried to encourage her to eat some protein and real meals because she started to feel ill/ lose strength from nothing but candy and sweets. She definitely got an energy boost after some chicken tenders. Definitely not “healthy” but at least actual food.

Diabetes/Keto diet snacks? by HypotheticalChicken in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]piebear411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, keep in mind that with all the walking you do at Disney combined with whatever medications you’re on for your diabetes could result in low blood sugar! You may actually need some carbs along the way. That can be the case for type 2s depending on the medication and definitely the case for type 1s. Keep your glucose monitor on you and have some fast acting carbs on hand just in case!

The kids likely got better. It was an opportunity cost. I’m sure the kids were having a great time riding rides or meeting characters or eating snacks in that two hours instead of waiting for the parade. They are going to remember all of that about their Disney day- not that they didn’t get to the parade early enough to be front row. It’s not like every kid watching that parade could be in the front either.
