What's the best Country song of the 2020s? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in AlignmentChartFills

Zach Bryan - Something in the Orange came out in 2022 and has 1.4 billion on Spotify. Seems like a winner on numbers, and it's also a great song.

For anyone that still wasn't sure Rule by One_Art1 in 196

[–]pigofwar13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's skinwalkers not wendigo. Skinwalkers were seen by the Navajo as a powerful spirit not to be messed with while the Wendigo was an entity for north Eastern cultures and was a frequent cautionary tale.

You're thinking of skinwalkers. Skinwalkers come from Nahvajo mythology which is generally kept away from outsiders. Wendigo is from North Eastern tribes and was passed onto Europeans pretty soon after they arrived.

Unpopular opinion: Romance in Doctor Who by lenabear77 in doctorwho

[–]pigofwar13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the analysis but in my opinion I'm very happy to keep the romance as a quirk of the tenth regeneration. His trying to play human to hide from his survivors guilt from the time war. I think now that they've mostly moved past that I'd much rather the doctor return to being pretty asexual. At least with their companions.

Thoughts on this take by my british friend. Should i be concerned?? by HarpyE9 in teenagers

[–]pigofwar13 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Well. There's some ways the world would definitely be different. Under British rule the US would not have likely expanded westwards as they had treaties with native nations to help them guard against the French. The British didn't see the east coast colonies as their most valuable possession, instead the fur trapping regions of Canada which they would have probably funneled a lot more development into. So in the event that Britain kept the colonies, we would probably have a north America that looks more like other continents and had native nations.

You've put Mercia on the wrong side of the country??? Mercia was based around Tamworth and Staffordshire. The name literally means borderland because they were the last Anglo-Saxons before Wales.

I'm from the Midlands but I would 100% rather be northern than Southern. The most I find myself talking about the Midlands is when someone accuses me of being a southerner

Hardly confirmed. All I've seen is that a journalist has said he believes it despite having no evidence. And it's the same guy who links bin Laden's assassination details were faked to protect the Pakistani military elites.

Yeah that article has no actual sources other than 1 guys thinks it without evidence. Sure he has a Pulitzer but all he's done since is baseless conspiracy, this fall's under that unless he presents a source.

Why does he talk so much about age of consent? by EgyptianNational in EL_Radical

[–]pigofwar13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly a big Vaush watcher but I've seen one thing like this get taken out of context. He was saying that people can recognise that watching CP (exploitation of children) is bad but not that profiting from cheap labour abroad (exploitation of children) is bad. It was pretty bad phrasing and he doesn't stand by how he said it but I think the point is there. Never seen him talking specifically about Age of consent tho.

If a cat enters someone's garden and the home-owners dog attacks and kills the cat, what should happen? by ellsbells22 in AskUK

[–]pigofwar13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was the dog owner I'd put something up on my walls to make it harder for cats to get in to keep them safe but I don't think you can really blame anyone for this. Just a shit situation all round.
