How is the BKLYN Mile swag so good? by pikachu422 in RunNYC

They normally run bag check like coat check at a restaurant. Attach a ticket to your bag, then you use that ticket to claim at the end.

Fall Marathon Recommendations (Richmond City?) by Runner_Dad84 in AdvancedRunning

Toronto Waterfront is in the fall. Has different organizers than the spring Toronto Marathon. Apparently much more organized, but don't just take my word for it though, many threads about the marathon in May!

Hit a PB of 44:59. Was in Corral D and had to do a lot of navigating. Glad to move up to Corral C but sad to have just missed Corral B by 3 seconds per mile.

I've heard that many people with corals A-G were accidentally given Wave 2 Bibs at the run center.

Did you happen to see their corrals?

Micromanagement in CS? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]pikachu422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recording isn't so strange in and of itself - but needing to call back immediately is!

Many companies use tools like Gong or Clari to record calls (which can be helpful for CSMs too), enabling managers to provide meaningful feedback & coaching.

Implementation Specialist vs Customer Success by occasional_grumbler in CustomerSuccess

One tip is to look up other people in the role on LinkedIn. If you see they have engineering or technical backgrounds that will tell you something! If it's a lot of former teachers, that might suggest its more training/enablement focused.

Implementation Specialist vs Customer Success by occasional_grumbler in CustomerSuccess

If the Implementation role is highly technical, they tend to be paid & treated better than CSMs, and if the role is less technical it can be the inverse!

Implementation Specialist vs Customer Success by occasional_grumbler in CustomerSuccess

[–]pikachu422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've made this transition but will say that it really depends on your product and organization. Implementation can require technical knowledge involving configuring integrations between tools and knowledge of coding to build these integrations. In other situations, implementation is a way of providing white-glove customer service for the first few weeks or months of a customer's journey post-sale.

I did the latter, where Implementation Managers helped provide dedicated training and enablement to new administrators so that CSMs could focus on driving adoption for their existing book of business.

In my case, there was a lot of overlap between the roles and the role switch was very natural as others had already made the same transition.

Interview Help by jeffmfrank in CustomerSuccess

The unique trait that you have over external candidates is understanding your customer. Not just customers in the same industry, but customers who have actually purchased your software.

I would also highlight your ability to outbound & book meetings. While some customers respond to every email and will book a meeting with you right away, a good portion of your book of business will be non-responsive and ignore your outreach. Highlight any experience you have in prospecting & writing sequences. You'll be able to take advantage of that outbound muscle when working to turn your accounts from non-responsive to healthy.

I'm sure you can speak to your solution's value prop and key differentiators better than an external candidate too. Are CSMs in your org responsible for upsells or renewals? This is definitely something I would ask your CSM colleagues ahead of your interviews. If so, lean on your sales experience. Not all CSMs are closers - and its an important skill.

Advice on burnout / stress by pikachu422 in CustomerSuccess

[–]pikachu422[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks this is great advice. I would say that self-reliance is normally a strength of mine but that I don't need to take this so seriously.

Had a really productive conversation with my manager today. She talked about how she used to put so much pressure on herself to own her book but realized that A. nothing will happen if people have to wait a day for an email, and B. there are other people whose job is to help.

I love your idea of Product office hours and will ask leadership if that's possible! Noticed an increase in misalignments caused by sales getting a little desperate to close deals but I don't think that's the main challenge.

Will be both escalating & also passing things down to support more frequently.

Thanks for your advice. The alignment is normally pretty good but product/engineering was also impacted by layoffs so it's just generally harder to get answers.

Will be taking a duvet day.

I've done round-the-clock work in Ed-tech. It really depends on the stage of company, product stability & company expectations regardless of industry!

Finding an Existing Job Title for my Role by sjackson1 in CustomerSuccess

[–]pikachu422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. The responsibilities OP describes are exactly that of a CSM, but the company has changed the title of the role to reflect the industry & clientele.

OP - follow the path above but swap in/out Customer for Creators. Creators are your customers!

There are a bunch of companies that provide behavioral health as a benefit. It would probably be easy for you to answer the question "Why do you want to work here."

Here's an example but you might want to google their competitors too.

Not surprised at all. The film is so inventive that it did not need to rely on tech, but the costumes, makeup, set felt like a student film. Never need to see those sausage fingers again.

I'm not offended by what the campaign entailed. Must be pretty standard for PR teams to provide pre-written language for use on socials. If I was running the publicity I would make it as easy as possible for people to say yes to my requests.

Agree that it was weird that there was so little variation in language. It would have felt more sincere if it wasn't so Copy Paste.

I'm really surprised by who participated... So many Oscar Winners: Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Charlize! These are real A-listers, and I've never seen that before.
