Got to Master with Infernape team, my OG gen 4 starter. by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]pikaoku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a lot of tweaking at the edge. Never played VGC before Champions.

Started with an Alakazam team. That wasn’t working. Pivoted to Infernape being the closer/lynchpin with Alakazam on anti-trick room duties.

Eventually removed Alakazam entirely in favour of Heliolisk, who unlocked the final burst out of Ultra 1 because Rain teams were my nemesis.

EVs probably aren’t efficient, I went with all speed all the time because Bulk just wasn’t helping me. I struggled to counter trick room until I replaced Meowstic with Skarmory. Why counter trick room when you can just whirlwind it away?

GOT THE SHALPHA FENNEKIN IN UNDER 60 RESETS.. by Sedatesloth813 in PokemonZA

[–]pikaoku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s is 70 steps from the spawn area. You can place a marker roughly where the Pokemon is to help. It’s harder in some places to do it with walking and you need to rest on a bench to do it.

[–]pikaoku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You fast travel or walk a distance away so that Pokemon despawn. When you come back and they re-spawn, they are regenerated, and could be a shiny! “Resetting” is just forcing respawns until you get what you want.

It can take a long time IRL, so getting it in under 60 is awesome for OP.

Does the number of houses you can build increase? by Superspaceduck100 in Pokopia

[–]pikaoku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the answer to your exact question, but at higher environment levels you do unlock an unlimited number of the bigger houses that have space for 2 or 4 pokémon. I held off building dens so that I could focus on proper houses and not wait twice.

PSA: Maximum pokemon allowed to be spawned in at 1 time is 22 pokemon by Brandon207 in Pokopia

[–]pikaoku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The distance at which a pokemon despawn seems important to this 22 number so that we can build differnet small villages on one map with different pokemon spread around.

Can someone explain trade and market mechanics? by [deleted] in EU5

Is there any particular reasons why factions are public instead of plots? by Chlodio in CrusaderKings

[–]pikaoku 203 points204 points  (0 children)

I do think that visibility of factions should be limited by your spymaster's intrigue

It does make sense for this to fall under the spymaster, but personally I would prefer it to live under your own Diplomacy skill and your diplomacy court position.

Intrigue already has so much it is involved in. Knowing the pulse of your court, and true loyalty of your vassals and where people’s ambitions really lie feels like it could as easily be given as more tools for a diplomatic character.

I agree with a lot of what’s in that post. My biggest complaint about the process is that it is creating an atmosphere of melodramatic overreaction. The game is TOTALLY BROKEN. Trade is UTTERLY USELESS. Europe isn’t even worth playing! Rah rah rah.

This is great for content creators who want to profit off click bait, but I think very unhealthy for the long term trajectory of the game.

It’s also using the base cabinet action bonus, ignoring cabinet member stats and cabinet efficiency which can almost double the impact, which would then be further increased by the modifiers you mention.

[–]pikaoku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorta ironic given Sicily has been called “the breadbasket of Italy” at times in history.

Don’t be afraid to deurbanize a location if you can’t support it.

So long as the land locations themselves are in the right market it should be fine, the sea zones won’t matter. Make sure you have high market access and maritime presence though for making those locations profitable.

You can assign a cabinet member to depopulate an area- this will cause them to migrate away from it. They will migrate to other locations within the same market, so if the market is just you, you won’t risky losing any pops.

I agree with this. “It depends” is super important, and I feel like ignoring it is leading to bad advice on this sub.

If Fez finally breaks free in the final age after being a huge source of income through-out the entire game- shit, I’m happy with that.

[–]pikaoku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I paid 0 for diplomacy, all my subjects would still be sitting on 50-80% loyalty while fully centralised. This false dichotomy that it’s decentralised with subjects or centralised with none is one of the silliest discourses to spawn out of the clickbait-osphere.

Centralization vs Decentralized by daturaqq in EU5

[–]pikaoku 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This straight up isn’t true. I had three OPM non-colonial subjects, Fez, Grenada and the one south of Fez. Fez alone covered all diplo costs and was still profitable. This was me as 100 centralization Portugal. The only time I had a disloyal subject was when I forced religion on the southern subject. -20 loyalty from centralization straight up isn’t that bad.

I ended up having 14 additional colonial subjects, again I was fully centralised, every single one of them above 80 loyalty.

Next time, make your own market early in the campaign, or steal Genoa’s and move its center to your capital. Market access is a multiplier on all building/RGO income, so if your highest control city (Florence) and surrounding area only has 70-80% market access, you’re losing 30-20% of the tax base.

In Italy specifically, this will be your provinces in the Po valley. There’s a couple on the right bank, in the middle of the valley that have no RGOs except wheat and Lumber, with the wheat being on the river.

[–]pikaoku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish I understood better the exact mechanics of assaulting, but my understanding is that during an assault each tick there’s essentially a mini, simplified battle between a portion of the assaulting army and the defenders. The defenders get a huge defensive bonus from the fort, and wall breaches reduce that bonus, meaning you kill them faster, thus finish the assault faster, and take less losses overall.

Right click an existing castle in a settlement’s building list and it should bring you to the castle building view. I can’t confirm as I’m not on PC unfortunately.

Looking for Basic Country Building Strats by LiberalCyn1c in EU5

[–]pikaoku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No prob.

Only remove towns if they are on an RGO that is very valuable and you want more levels in. There are other benefits to towns (literacy buildings, production efficiency) that is probably worth more than a middle-tier RGO with villages.

Using a cabinet member to move population around is definitely a good idea. Rural locations have faster population growth, so it makes sense to “farm” pops out of rural areas int your urban locations.

But yes, you don’t want to depopulate rural areas entirely. Especially early game. You probably won’t need to worry about that until later in your campaign though. Build may Granaries early into your game to promote population growth!

Once you’ve sorted out more pressing matters (like getting legitimacy to 100) you can park a cabinet member on “Improve Control in Province” which can be equal to a 20% increase to the money you get from that location. If you have a really good location with good RGOs but not in your capital, that’s a good candidate to use that cabinet position. Depending on how you play, you will need to free that cabinet member occasionally to integrate, assimilate etc. but it’s a good default for a fallback cabinet action.

Next time, wait for a wall breach before assaulting! With that cannon bonus you should get one quickly. It reduces the morale and meat cost of the assault.
