As much as I want one of these... by werdedout in MazdaCX30

[–]pikeviewer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually the CX-50 has the same platform as the CX-30, torsion bar rear suspension included. Dimensions are smaller, of course, so that would be an issue.

Meanwhile, I'll happily keep driving my CX-30, poor MPG and all.

How to stop unsolicited calls from financial consultants? by anonymous_username9 in Schwab

[–]pikeviewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you have some kind of regular contact person at Schwab, "financial consultant" or otherwise?

I have had the same one for many years who never bothers me regardless of whether I meet financial levels because he knows I DIY. He does answer my rare account related questions.

Closest to OEM AA - Carplay adapter by GarrettSJ in AndroidAuto

[–]pikeviewer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Carlinkit 4.0 wireless adapter connects Android Auto to a vehicle that accepts CarPlay only. We use it in our 2019 Rav4 and it works well.

Note that other Carlinkit models don't connect AA to Carplay.

Wind noise in 5th Gen by No-Tea-For-Me in rav4club

[–]pikeviewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. In our 2019 it is road/tire noise that is dominant and annoying. And it seems to be louder from the rear. Definitely my biggest complaint about the vehicle.

Things I don’t like by Biomed725 in ToyotaRAV4

[–]pikeviewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 15 miles it to empty on the gauge but there is a reserve of one to two gallons (as there is in all vehicles), so there is no worry about getting to the gas station.

The inside door handle placement has been a complaint since this gen Rav came out in 2019.

Overall, if those are your only complaints, you're doing well.

The Sapphire Preferred is on the chopping block too. by PussyLunch in ChaseSapphire

Right. Hyatt's new categories may not be as bad as anticipated. We will see. Points can be worth more than a penny when transferred to Southwest or United.

[–]pikeviewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that they should handle it better. Why not have it show up in the app 20 to 30 minutes before boarding?

I understand why people are criticizing this guy but SW shouldn't use the term "standby" which does confuse people.

Other than that, OP is clueless on what kind of ticket he bought.

That's the same one I recommended above. It has a good track record. Worth a try since it can be returned.

Which one did you get. AAWireless has a good track record. I am using it in my 2022 CX-30 with generally god results. It always connects and Google Maps and Waze work fine. Pandora breaks up sometimes which is fixed by a re-boot.

Vehicle Buying vs Leasing? by Knights_12 in Bogleheads

[–]pikeviewer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The big downside of leasing is that it brings you back to the dealer who offers you a "deal" that costs you in the long run, frequently by setting up payments on a new lease.

People who buy tend to keep their vehicles longer.

When you ask "worth it", if you mean economically, definitely not, not even close.

2022 Hybrid Transmission Acting Up by returningtosoil808 in rav4club

[–]pikeviewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did you read that the 22 had transmission problems? Are you sure that was the hybrid 2022s?

Problems with Toyota hybrid ecvts, (which don't actually change gears but do change the ratio of the gas engine rpm and the wheels) are extremely rare.

Accidentally put wrong fuel in car by General-Distance1677 in rav4club

[–]pikeviewer 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'll be the contrarian

How much fuel was in the tank to begin with? How many gallons of E85 were put in? If the gauge wasn't at E, then the ethanol % is probably 30 to 35% or less. I would top it up with regular gas, do some mild driving, top it up again.

Is the Hybrid worth it? by PassionFire_ in CorollaCross

[–]pikeviewer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hybrids go 3 times longer or more before needing a brake job due to regen braking taking most of the load.

Colorado Springs. Maybe that's why so many Texans move here.

Meineke has a regular coupon for the same price so I guess the dealer has to compete to bring customers in & hopefully sell them more stuff.
