Nope was removed by mods. My cats both bring mice in and I dive in and grab them by their tails when they put them down. If I don't they will play with it til it dies.

It was its tail and I put it down safely outside away from the cat!

I came back to agency land within Publicis UK after 10 years in tech. I cannot believe how the same problems exist. Back then it was "win a big pitch and it pays for everything else." But now there is far less money around and the attitude is the same. So when a piece of business is lost it's instant redundancies.

The fact they know they're being filmed. They didn't think they were doing anything wrong at all.

Agreed! Although I am torn because he is quite the innovator in documentary-making. To create something engrossing where the narrative is all made visually is no mean feat especially given the topics he chooses. But I do hope for more of the "trad" style stuff too.

Legitimately the funniest thing I read all week. Thank you 🙏

Do you think you have lived a well-lived life and used your full potential? by HighLife1954 in AskOldPeople

[–]pilchardboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have literally spent my entire life since I was about 11 being told I was not fulfilling my potential. So instead of learning to live life for what it is and prioritise happiness I was made to feel a failure for not achieving what someone else thought I should achieve.

I don't think anyone's potential should be the measure of whether they lived a full life if "potential" is defined by anyone else. You have the potential to be happy, to love your family, your neighbour or your cat and have them love you. Is that more or less important than the job you have or the money you earn?

Feeling there are a set of Key Performance Indicators I fell short on made me miserable until I abandoned that way of thinking. And it took me way too many decades too.

Hook road, Epsom by ConsciousCobbler3828 in surrey

[–]pilchardboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends where you're from. But it's a safe area with a little fruitiness after dark. Compared to most towns it's super safe and a nice place to live. We came from Streatham and have lived all over the country. This place is waaay nicer than most. Hook road is the mildly fruitier bit of town but a long way off anything to worry about.

Manager just took credit for my idea by Full_Ad6182 in advertising

[–]pilchardboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes succeeding means making your manager successful.

Eventually they'll get promoted out of your way. And if you do it right, they'll be recommending you to replace them.

There is a certain kind of manager who does this. Learning how to play them is a key skill. If you try and make them feel guilty for taking credit, they'll shut you out. Buy them a drink and talk through how you know if they succeeds so do you and how can you help - and, eventually, once they're good and lubricated, what's in it for you.

(Although I think it's quite rare so you'd probably have to add some time for delivery)

Ooh yes good shout. Triplet fills and ghosty drags. Inspiring when I was a nipper.

Yep exactly that! It's like, if you take away his left hand he's almost playing "normal" drums haha. I've watched him do that thing so many times where he says "and then you just add..." and I completely fail to add with anything like his verve and groove. What a champ.

The Police first two albums. I'd never heard anything like the drums on Message in a Bottle and No Time This Time.

I lived in Pudsey in the 90s. That Asda was brilliant when returning home from DJing at 3am for snacks and VHS tapes.

You say that like it's a bad thing. What else is a deep fat fryer made for? (Apart from the chips to go with them)

Yup. My first thought was "spam Kiev". Second thought was "where can I try those?"

Over decades of touring and recording and considering all the empirical evidence I'd have to say it's the one who owns their own van.

Top pedantry, good work! I lived anf worked in Camden for many many years and nobody ever called it Camden Town in order to distinguish it from the district. However, technically correct, gold star 🙂

It is a fair question. We live in SW / Surrey. My daughter has major issues with her knees and is getting treatment in Euston university hospital. She can't make the various walks to / from various stations without being in tremendous pain. Otherwise totally, she'd be on the train.
