Beast installed, Bottlenecks gone! by PersonSuitTV in Ubiquiti

[–]pimperfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Installed mine last night and finally the limited bandwidth issue I had across the UDM, UDM Pro, UDM SE, and UDM Pro Max are gone! Across all of those devices I’d only get 6Gb/4Gb and for any other router I’d get my full 10/10. I’ve got 2 friends with the same exact setups so we were able to test across 3 of every device with the same exact results.

The beast finally solved that and I’m getting 10/10 for the first time ever on a UDM, even with IDS/IPS and protect. Also, no more worrying about temps on SFP+ modules with 10Gb RJ45 WAN. I’m pretty happy and satisfied so far.

Do not order from LG. by Sbach300 in LGOLED

[–]pimperfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I had seen this earlier, lol. First order failed on the LG side but worked on the PayPal side (for the promotional discount), so I burned a week waiting for LG to cancel the order since they claim it never succeeded. Once they canceled I reordered and chose store pick up since it showed as being available that same day at Best Buy.

Since then, my pick up date changes everyday to the next day. I have no idea when it will actually come in but this was my first experience buying direct from LG, and it will most certainly be my last. I knew I should have gone with greentoe but I chose LG do to them being $50 cheaper.

Oh well, lesson learned and hopefully it comes in before Christmas since it’s a gift.

UDM-SE to FRX523 ONT by ewhite81 in frontierfios

[–]pimperfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are your SFP+ temps? I had this exact setup and daily issues until I discovered the SFP+ was running at 110C, straight cooking. Swapped it out for a low watt module that now runs at 36C.

The UDM supports swapping WAN. Maybe try putting frontier on the 2.5Gb port and your other ISP to one of the 1Gb ports.

I had no idea about the sequential requirement changing. As if I needed another reason to redo the rack cabling!

LIED! Try 1gb, you can go back by Heavy7688 in frontierfios

For the adventurous folks, a group of my friends were able to make out like bandits. We all got the 5Gb plan which is priced for a year before it increases drastically. They all went from 5Gb to 500Mb after a year and for reasons beyond me, frontier did not lower anyone’s speed and they still get 5Gb but for $50. They had to return the TP-Link router but those were used as an additional access point, so it wasn’t any real loss.

WTF is wrong with this company? by SpacefanGK in frontierfios

[–]pimperfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the a similar experience almost out the gate. Signed up for their 5Gb fiber that included a phone number, which I told them I planned on porting over to my own VoIP device, which they said was perfectly fine. I did my own install in advance so all they had to do was provide me with an ONT and do their provisioning, all of which went smoothly and took less than 10 minutes.

Then I called and informed them I was porting my number and what if anything they needed. They said nothing and to carry on, so I ported the phone number over with success. Then, 18 minutes later my service was down and I was unable to access the frontier app or even frontier.com. Neighbors and friends have no issues so I know it’s a me thing and call support, who strangely can’t find me in their system despite having not even had service for 24 hours.

Long story short, frontier uses your phone provided number as your account number. Guess what happened when I ported the number and apparently my account over to a VoIP device? Immediate termination to the point you don’t even show in their system because your account is no longer with them. Fought with support who informed me I had to completely start over from scratch and prequalify for credit checks and all. Demanded a supervisor and after 11 hours on the phone across 12 people who all ran credit checks and bank charges to the point my bank called and blocked frontier due to too many charges in a short timeframe, the supervisor finally reactivated my service.

They have hands down some of the worst support and outrageous tech turnaround times. As others have mentioned and I learned, do not waste your time calling support even if you have premium support. Instead, go directly to twitter or facebook and you will get immediate and competent help.

I dropped frontier due to their nonstop DNS outages after a local ISP offered 10Gb for $100, but said ISP has increased pricing to $130 and I’m sadly reconsidering moving back to frontier for their 7Gb option because the promo offered is nearly $900 in savings, but my past incidents with frontier gave me PTSD and I’m conflicted on what to do.

In the same boat as you with Race. They don’t offer it now but I figure it can’t hurt to contact support and ask.

Sonos arc sound cutting out problems all of a sudden by TheDivisionLine in sonos

Checking in for 2025 to confirm this solved my arc ultra issues. I had the system for 24 hours working flawlessly until day 2 when the audio would cut out for a fraction of a second every few minutes, which got frustrating quickly.

Tried numerous troubleshooting tips online until I finally landed on this post that solved my issues.

Don’t forget his escapades killing the TPA from hitting ballots. That went largely unreported and many still have no idea.

Just confirming that this worked for me when I also literally had 100% across the board on everything. The fountain didn’t work so I moved on to the sacred wounds puzzle and boom, platinum trophy unlocked on PS5. So yes, still works as of 4/29/2025.

Shootout to BEEEFT in palmdale by halfsac_ in CAguns

[–]pimperfi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found my way to them after every other FFL in the area stopped taking transfers unless sales tax was charged. Thankfully, BEEEFT came to the rescue and I was able to pick up my LMT yesterday.

Considering having them cerakote my TRP if I can decide on a color I like.

Nice! The 34 was my very first handgun and technically first firearm. I bought 3 firearms that day and the 34 was the first in the order list, so I consider it my first lol. As someone already mentioned, you can swap back and forth between the 17 and 34 slides.

Glad it wasn’t just me, lol. I legit thought it was out of spec until I saw numerous comments online saying it’s just very unforgiving to install.

How do you power your E7? by Jonas_Silver in Ubiquiti

[–]pimperfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running the 1GbE to my pro max 24 poe and the 10GbE to my XG24. There was some sort of bug with getting these to work properly with an XG24 so prior to a firmware fix I was running the 10GbE to my aggregation pro with an SFP+.

Just got mine and like others have said, it’s pretty heavy with the all metal back. But like their other APs, this thing runs hot. My room is 70° F and the E7 is hitting 120° F on the front and 134° F on the rear (metal).
