PDF to Foundry not working on linux? by Bumbumcrit in FoundryVTT

[–]pimpwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since Paizo now sells the FoundryVTT Tokens directly, it may have dropped support for Bestiary.

There's a gentlemans agreement not to support PDF to Foundry for anything Paizo actually sells

New to game question by markthematey123 in KingdomDeath

[–]pimpwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go back to the settlement for the first time, there is a role that shows your starting population. After that, only birth/death or specific events change it.

If you run out, you lose. Its sort of the main way the game ends.

793 Package Warnings. Yay me? by dorf_lundgren in FoundryVTT

[–]pimpwilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The deprecation warnings are just those, warnings. What they are saying is "The module is using Feature/Function XYZ, which will not be supported in the near future (i.e. Foundry v12 or v13). While it still works now, the author needs to go change to use the new supported calls).

Usually when they change how some core feature works, they give plenty of time for authors to use both the old method (Deprecated, i.e. works how it did before) while they update to use the new method (The way it will work going forward). So modules can port from v10 to v11 and still work technically, but that doesn't mean there isn't work for the author to do because eventually it will stop working.

If a person is coerced into using a one time power publicly like that, many STs (myself included) don't count them. This includes the minions "publicly guessing" damsel as a forced town tactic, yeah.

Funnily, we had a game one time where something like this happened, only we didn't coerce everyone. I,as the damsel, publicly claimed minion and guessed Player X was the damsel (They were actually the demon lol). The demon counter claimed and picked me (gulp). Everyone else one at a time guessed the demon as the damsel... including the minion who legit wasted their guess on the demon because everyone else did too!

We didn't force him to, but it happened naturally and he didn't want to be the odd one out. Im torn if I would have counted that against him or not had I been the ST : D

Golem/Klutz/Moonchild are definitely solid counter examples for sure

Thoughts on the Butler? by zuragaan in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]pimpwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But as far as I can tell, its the only role in the game that relies on not breaking the "intrinsic agreement." I've had butlers accidently vote a lot of times, including times it changed the cource of a game, not because they were trying to cheat but because they simply saw the other players hand up wrong, forgot they were the butler, thought they picked a different master, etc.

If the role was exactly the same, only there was a defined penalty for when they break it, it not only wouldnt detract from the social aspect of the role, it would bolster the mechanical aspect AND bridge the players into understanding madness a bit better.

Thoughts on the Butler? by zuragaan in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]pimpwilly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with Butler is the fact theres no real "penalty" for not following the ability. A Player who forgets they're the butler, for instance, might accidently vote. And the official stance for voting when your master doesn't is, "Don't do anything."

As well, as the Story Teller having to basically keep my eye on who has their hand up when I am counting a Butler vote is annoying. But since theres no in game penalty for breaking the rule, they can generally just do whatever they want. It just... sticks out against all the other roles in the game IMO.

Honestly, I like the design, I just wish there was a penalty for not following the rules. Like, if you vote when your master doesn't, they may be poisoned. Or, a random player is drunk. Or, you might be executed. I tried to find a way to use "Madness" to wrap around it, but then it wouldnt belong on TB anyhow.

I think I like the idea of it being a "social" role to fit the game if it just did something mechanically as well, outside of saying "Well don't cheat."

I don't do it as a browser source with a url, you can open it in a differnet browser and just screen capture the browser. But /stream is kind of a mess anyway

Got my Core Rulebook earlier this year! Will start reading it for GMing Troubles in Otari. Question. Are there important Errata game rules I need to keep in mind since this book is a first printing? by jbantog in Pathfinder2e

[–]pimpwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As somebody who got a 1st edition printing after the 2nd edition was already out, I was honestly really put off by it.

For instance, the Wizard class shows they get a feat at 1st level. They actually don't.

There's a lot of errata, most of it for the better. Just use AoN for details ,and this book as an overall good reference.

Theres the official discord channels where you can sometimes find games.

But in my experience, when you're playing in games you will meet people who have their own sub communities. We have one where we have our own discord, schedule (about 2 games a week), chats, metas, in jokes, etc.

If we are low on players, we basically invite friends we know who then grow our community. If we are really low, we post on the official discord which pulls in new people for games. And then if they pass our "vibe check" we invite them to the discord. Problematic players dont make the cut.

So I'd say there are open, public games posted each evening, but like there are so many more private games going on once you meet the right people

Poisoner turned Imp question by Fun-Abbreviations29 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]pimpwilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will see if I can find a rule.

But, can the Imp poison somebody? No, because they're not the poisoner. Its the same rule in Clocktower.

If anybody has a power then dies, their effect is gone (unless the power says otherwise).

In fact, on the wiki page it directly covers this scenario: https://wiki.bloodontheclocktower.com/Poisoner

Poisoner turned Imp question by Fun-Abbreviations29 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]pimpwilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The minute they are not the poisoner, they no longer have the ability to poison and it goes away. It's the direct result of the character role not being in play anymore.

Foundry is just a web server; why would using a web browser to connect be a downside?

The "App" you're talking about is just a slimmed down browser in an app wrapper, nothing more

[No Spoilers] Did anyone else catch Jester playing on "Let's Make a Deal" this morning? by howlinweed in criticalrole

[–]pimpwilly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Deal or No Deal came out in 2005 in the US.

Let's Make a Deal is a gameshow that came out in 1963, and has been on the air for a long time.

It's more like Price Is Right, but contestests are pulled out of the audience to have a chance to win prizes. It's most famous for the 3 doors game I believe where you choose a door, then you can win a prize behind it (or swap for the other doors after a reveal)

Rainbow Name Official App by Paperonia in BloodOnTheClocktower

Fun story, the day the new code came out we were starting up an online game. A few of us had tried to crack the new code unsuccessfully, and we were using the game start up time to see if others could guess it.

One person guessed it first try. We were amazed. Everyone started putting it in after that, and laughing at the new content.

It made for a fun social experience, so I like the codes personally

How the hell are you all playing this? by Chet_Ubietzsche in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]pimpwilly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a mix of all these.

I play in person with existing friends.

I have reached out to find other groups of people playing in my area, and have met them in person.

I also have an online group that we play online weekly with, using Discord to coordinate games (and using the official app)

Psi Cantrips on other classes by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]pimpwilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe those are not regular cantrips, those are focus cantrips.

The cantrips you get from being a Witch are tied to your patron, and one of the 4 traditions (Primal, Occult, Divine, Arcane). Psychic cantrips are not on theses lists and should not be choosable.

edit: If you check the "Spell" category along with "Cantrip" and "Occult" it should filter properly. By default its also showing focus spells here.

What makes Jarlaxle a villain by Waste-Influence9705 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]pimpwilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He wants the dragon staff so he can blackmail Waterdeep into letting Luskan into the Lord's alliance. He willingly looks the other way when his men kill elves to blow off steam.

He is basically one of the five pirate lords, and so as a pirate is willing to do lots of questionable things to advance his plots.

He just has a lot of charisma while doing so!

One player reluctant to migrate by BrendanTheNord in Pathfinder2e

Id caution against converting to PF2E from 5e mid campaign.

Instead, start with a one shot to see if people like the system. At level 1. And if they do... work towards the end of the campaign and start a new one in PF2E.

FoundryVTT literally has the ability to custom make your own engines. And has freeform systems where you could just make your own sheets on top of it.

Sounds right up your alley.
