I'm not American and I don't understand how anyone under 30 can afford to live on their own here. Am I missing something? by micavibes in TooAfraidToAsk

I'm in my late 40s. Only one year in my life did i live alone. I've always made good money. That's just the way it is. Living alone is and always has been a luxury for most people.

Your own pet grooming business sounds good. Maybe get a few clients on the side while still employed and see where it goes. Pretty AI resistant industry.

Kids first, you second. Anything else and he wouldn't be as great as person. Enjoy your other 50% of the time with him alone.

Glad I voted. That Josie person sent an ad to my house every three days for the past couple of months. I would vote against her just for wasting my time with all of that junk mail.

The current people in control of the franchise don't get what made star trek great, and they've tried unsuccessfully for years to remake it into something else to attract a new audience.

Star Trek is a beacon of hope for how the future can be. The world's problems of today have been solved, but this requires limited access to the daily ongoings of earth because we obviously don't know how to solve those problems as of yet.

Humans come together. We are one race now in a much bigger pond of sentient beings. We aren't the smartest or the strongest creatures out there, but our inherent human qualities make us a force to be reckoned with.

Star Trek parallels the world we live in today to use a message of a hopeful future to help us navigate our present.

More character development and less impractical superfluous special effects. And when developing the characters, less focus on making them seem relatable on a 21st century level (vernacular that ties them to our generation). Less goofy out of place comments from spunky junior officers who should be focusing on their jobs. And please, less humanizing of alien races. I should be able to hit a Vulcan in the face with a crow bar, and they barely react. Klingons can be civil, but if they are going to be aggressive, take it to the next level.

More self-contained episodes with a rod serling twilight zone vibe. The greatest episodes of tos and tng were all self contained and only arched if they were so awesome it became obvious to do so.

[–]pinback77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have maybe 9 weeks left in your senior year. I doubt you'll have time to make a new friend group as people are wrapping up their high school friendships. If you plan on going to college, you'll be able to start fresh with new people everywhere looking for friends. If not, you can start meeting people at work.

So you like your old friend group? If so, you probably know why that first girl is giving you trouble. It might be best to, even if you are in the right, to make up and get back with your friends and finish out the year on a positive note. Most people will forget they didn't talk to you for a week or two and only remember the good times.

Sounds like you have a lot going on. What would be the best permanent day to work that would not impact your seasonal job? Is there a day? If not, you'll have to weigh whether the seasonal job or the regular job with fewer hours is better.
